Book Description
Apparently, the path of true love meanders through a minefield.
After several years of adventures, submissive Olly Glenn and his Dom, Joe Dexter, are about to tie the knot. Needless to say, all does not run smoothly on the path to matrimony. Only Olly can turn a visit to a cupcake shop into a police incident.
While Joe and Olly’s friends join forces to make their wedding the most memorable ever, others are not so keen on them getting their happy ever after—or living to experience their honeymoon. So, when Joe walks into a carefully laid trap, it’s hard to see a way out.
Olly is determined that nobody, not even a sociopathic killer with connections to his past, will ruin the big day. He wants Joe standing next to him, in one piece, and he’ll risk anything to make sure that happens, even if they have to be handcuffed together. In fact, that idea has possibilities…
Reader advisory: This book contains scenes of violence, stalking, abduction, and attempted murder.
“Do you think Parker misses me, Sir?” Olly pulled on a rainbow-striped sock.
“Well, as you just spent twenty minutes on the phone talking to him, I think it’s unlikely.”
“It was a bit of a one-sided conversation, to be fair. Perhaps I should Skype him instead.” Olly reached for the iPad lying on the bed.
“Or you could accept that he’s living his best life being spoiled rotten by everyone at The Edge.”
“I don’t want him to like them better than me.”
“Stop chewing your nails or I’ll tie your hands behind your back. Sit.” Olly responded to the command by dropping to the bed like his legs had been kicked out from under him. He folded his hands in his lap and examined his single socked foot before wiggling his toes on the other, bare one. Joe sat next to him. “Parker is fine. He’ll never love anyone more than you—that daft dog adores you, but you know Aiden will walk him and play with him, Emile will sneak him sausages, Jacob will pretend he doesn’t see him digging holes in the vegetable patch. Life at The Edge will carry on without us just fine for a few days.”
“I know, I do…but he’s my fur baby.”
“You’re always anxious when we come down to London, but it never takes you long to settle in. If we hadn’t arrived so late, I would have taken you to the club last night. After that horrendous drive, I would have enjoyed a bit of decompression too.”
“The M1 is the highway to hell. How do people manage to run into each other when they’re all driving in the same direction in a straight line?”
“That, my love, is one of the great mysteries of the modern age. Now, finish getting dressed and I’ll make you pancakes for breakfast.”
Olly made a lunge for his other sock. “Oh my God, yes please!”
“Ten minutes.” Joe, already immaculate in a dark Zegna suit and pale blue shirt, headed for the stairs. Olly rushed around like a loon until he had enough clothes on to pass as respectable then hurtled after him. He slid across the tiled kitchen floor, coming to a halt against one of the stools set next to the counter. Joe was beating the pancake batter. Maple syrup, strawberries and whipped cream were already set out, along with a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice.
“You’re spoiling me, Sir.” Olly beamed at Joe. Joe, who had draped his jacket over another stool and rolled up his shirtsleeves, grunted.
“Don’t tell anyone. I have a reputation to protect.”
“Don’t worry. Your secret is safe with me. I will protect your Domminess with my life. No one will ever know that underneath that frosty exterior you’re a big ball of mush.”
Joe sighed and poured batter into a smoking pan. “You are badly in need of a sound flogging.”
“I know.” Olly grinned. “Do you remember the first time you gave me pancakes in this kitchen?”
“Nearly three years ago. You looked good in my shirt.”
“You made me take it off, as I recall.”
“One of my better decisions.”
Olly chuckled and spun on his stool. “I did this then too.”
“And I thought you were going to land on your behind.”
“You saved me.” In so many ways. Olly avoided the piercing gaze he knew Joe was directing at him.
“You saved yourself.” Joe deposited a heaped plate of pancakes in front of Olly, who drowned them in syrup before adding a pile of strawberries and a pyramid of whipped cream.
“Let’s say it was a team effort. The ‘save the Olly’ campaign was a resounding success.” He took a huge bite of breakfast. “Oh, thash gud.”
Joe, whose pancakes were only adorned with strawberries, watched him. Olly swallowed then washed down the food with a big slurp of juice. “I can’t decide whether you’re horrified or fascinated, Sir.” He attacked the pancakes until they were gone, then gave the bare crockery a mournful examination.
“Both.”
