Welcome to the Love Bytes Reviewers’ Best of 2020
Here at Love Bytes, we reviewed everything from contemporary romance to fantasy, paranormal, historical, adventure, mystery, comedy and everything in between in 2020. Each day for the next few weeks, we will feature one of our reviewer’s top picks from books and audio books published in 2020. With thousands of fantastic new books each year, written by hundreds of creative and talented authors, it’s so difficult to narrow our lists down. We all have many favorite authors not featured here and wish we could acknowledge them all.
Dani’s 2020 Favorites
Every year it feels like I am struggling to get 10 favorites listed I start out with like 30 and then start cutting down. This year it was another hard one to select only a few numbers. I have the tendency to like to cheat a bit and add some special recommendations or mentions 😀
I am down to 15 when I am typing this so I need to still make a small change to the list I guess.
There are quite a few series on there because singeling out one book in the series would be a “….” to the other ones.
I had the pleasure of reading some extremely great books, books that sticked with me during the year, book who made me laugh, made me almost cry (or perhaps indeed wipe away a tear I admit) , books who made me feel all the feels so to speak, or made me think…
So in random order:
All Kidding Aside (Magical Mates #1) by Macy Blake
After starting the Chosen One series late because I was nervous to start it as it isn’t my normal preference I fell hard for this world author Macy Blake created. With the spin off “All Kidding Aside”, Macy Blake rocks it out of the parc.
Incredible that this is a debut novel. This story stuck with me for a long time and had to go on my best of list. It has all the feels.
Godfather Wars by Brittany Cournoyer
Don’t ask me why but this story hit all my buttons it came unexpected and absolutely blew me away.
This is a story about family and quoting from my review : “I noticed myself wanting to keep reading and see what else would happen”.
I still hope there will be more.
Havenwood series by Riley Hart
I can say a lot about this series. I have been a fan of Miss Hart since she started writing I think and this series is Riley Hart at her best, plain simple.
The Night Wolf (The Wolves of Lydon #1) by Parker Williams
Parker Williams goes werewolves and boy does he… I had the pleasure of reading this book early and it just grabbed me completely.
A Guy Walks into My Bar by Lauren Blakely
This book was recommended to me by many friends and I am glad I finally got to reading it. I have to say not all m/f authors can pull off delivering a great m/m book, but Lauren Blakely did.
Home Town Jasper series by Nicky James
I had the pleasure of reviewing this series. Nicky James going contemporary still amazes me 🙂
But gosh have I been glad that she did! Great series, story building, which incl literarly everything you can want.
Four Bear Construction series by K.M Neuhold
Having read a lotttttt of books by K.M Neuhold I can say I love most of what this author writes, with this series I think she proves she is more then a good author, This series has a familairity to it that makes you want to wrap up in this world with these men.
Interlocking Fragments series by Michele Notaro & Sammi Cee
It is not like me to mention a seasonal book in my best of list but this Holiday / Christmas book by Lily Morton called Merry Measure, was beyond great perhaps because it is happening in Amsterdam and me being Dutch but I think that was not all. This book is the ultimate holiday story and has all the feels!
A very special mention I want to give out to two amazing ongoing series.
First, The Asylum Fight Club series by Bianca Somerland and Tibby Armstrong
This is not a series for the fainthearted. It is gruff , heavy laden, BDSM, Polyamy, Kinky but oohh the love between these man, the commitment, the symatics it is more then amazing. Not all the kinks are my cup of tea I can honestly admit that but just reading about the core team of these men makes every book an amazing read. And.there are follow up story happening for a while now on their blog page which are just as good as the books.
Second, The Kings of Men MC by Ki Brightly & M.D Gregory
This is also not your casual contemporary series but gosh this is beyond hot and sexy and so many different man. But a lot of heavy stuff I do want to be honest about that. But I completely fell for this series this year and not just this one but all the spin off’s connected books by both authors written solo. I want to live in New Gothenburg.
I hope you enjoyed my list so far and it gives you some nice memories when you have read some of them yourselves or it gives you recommendation to start to read them. Are you curious for some of the titles that just missed the final cut…. well Sanctuary by Kelly Fox, The Elite series by Ella Frank & Brooke Blaine, the Beyond the Cove series by Jaclyn Quinn and Virgin Flyer by Lucy Lennox, were the final ones who ….well you get it 🙂
