REVIEW:

Max is an attorney in NYC who is bringing in the big new client.  This could be the thing he needs to get the promotion he’s been working for three years for.  But his BFF Hal has cajoled him into coming for Christmas to visit him and his daughters – back to his hometown he hasn’t been back to for a decade!   Just when he’s trying to cancel, he gets blackmailed by the girls 🙂  He really needs to work, but he can’t let the girls down – they’ve been through enough.  But then he unfortunately wrecks his car.

Dominic “Nicky” Bell is Hal’s younger brother.  He’s come back to town after getting out of the army and he’s been a godsend for Hal and the girls.  He’s also the cop on duty who gets called out to rescue Max.  When he introduces himself as Dominic, Max has no idea that he is indeed Hal’s younger brother.  They get their flirt on a little and then Hal shows up.

Max and Uncle Nicky help Hal with the girls and they enjoy spending time together.  Then Dominic and Max get to spend some time together.  The house that Dominic has bought is a real fixer upper and Max is good with tools and offers to help.  With Hal’s support, the commence on some construction work.  But of course there are intrusions 🙂

As the snow worsens though and Max has to stay in town longer than expected, he get sucked into the Christmas goings on.  And he has to face some things about his past life there.  But Dominic and Hal and the girls keep things fun and lively.  And it turns out that maybe his life in NY isn’t everything.  Dominic is also beginning to realize that there might before more out there to life for him as well 😉

Well this has gotten off my Christmas Eve to a great start – despite the impending snowstorms 🙂  I really enjoyed this story so much!  True confession – I work at a law firm and it’s the second time in my career that I have.  This putting the job first thing is for real.  I loved to watch Max figure out that his life could be more than one thing.  Dominic is such a sweet guy.  I liked that he was finally able to have something with his first crush 😉  There are also some awesome secondary characters – Dinah, the owner of the town restaurant, Hal’s daughters, Dominic’s coworkers, and the list goes on.  This has a wonderful really authentic small town vibe to it.  I loved the surprising ways the town and even the setbacks worked to clear the cobwebs from Nicky and Max’s eyes.  Although there was a little more drama with Hal’s ex than I would have loved, I was thoroughly charmed by Max and Nicky’s love story.  Highly recommended if you want a sweet and winning smile to put your in a happy holiday mood!
