BLURB:
Long, lean, wild and unconventional for an Omega, Zane rocks and rolls Alpha Grant’s world. Zane can’t be predicted. He can’t be contained. And Grant freaking loves it.
But it’s not all beer and BJs, even for these two. Grant’s never wanted to have kids of his own. His family is Legacy Tattoo, the business he finally reclaimed after his grandfather’s death. He’s dedicating his life to making it not just flourish but thrive. And he doesn’t know — yet — about Zane’s status as a single father to a rambunctious pre-K rebel.
Their love affair is gonna be complicated. And — downright combustible.
REVIEW:
There was something about this story that really hit the spot for me. The two protagonists were an unlikely pairing – a grumpy alpha and a livewire of an omega, but the chemistry was clear right from the start. Add in the most adorable little boy and it’s a winning combination.
I absolutely loved Zane. He was so comfortable in his own skin and was effortlessly sexy and relentlessly cheerful. There was just something about him that makes you feel that he would be easy to be around and would make you laugh. Grant is more intense and withdrawn. Maybe he wouldn’t make such a good dinner companion, but once he relaxes and lets you in he’ll be a good, solid friend for life and will always have your back.
There were times when I felt so sorry for Zane, but I was impressed by his commitment to Hadrian. Both he and Grant had a long journey to reach the point they did at the end.
Both the story and characters were engaging and I enjoyed watching them all grow. I have to admit though that my favourite character was Hadrian. He was extremely well written, and it’s not easy to catch the essence of a small child. He was one of a kind.
There is little to criticize, especially if you like the Alpha/Omega trope, although this is hardly the usual pairing. There were a few little hiccups but I don’t think they spoiled the overall quality of the experience too much. My big bugbear is always the dialogue and I think the vast majority is spot on. It’s especially difficult to write dialogue in a child’s voice and the author nailed it, even though Hadrian only made a brief appearance.
This book is well worth a reading if you like sweet and sassy romance with a steaming helping of sex. There are no major events that cause truama or drama and the angst is caused by the protagonists’ own reactions to their own emotions/issues. There is by no means high tension and the whole story unfolds at a comfortable pace. I loved the ending, and would love to see the story continue.
