BLURB:
Trevor can never leave good enough alone. So when he meets model-gorgeous Chase who has an aversion to being touched, he spots a challenge. After all, no one wants to go through life not being touched by anyone, right? Despite a friend’s plea not to, Trevor sets his sight on fixing Chase.
After being forced to transfer his senior year of college, Chase just wants to avoid drama, pass his classes, get his degree, and move on (and back to his friends). He’s not looking for new friends, and his attitude gives him a reputation that makes it easy to accomplish. At least until he meets Trevor.
Despite an awkward beginning, common interests — and Trevor’s persistence — draw Chase and Trevor together. It’s almost inevitable that their friendship develops into something else. But when secrets come out, it might end the game early.
REVIEW:
Interesting blurb on this one. College kids Trevor and Chase meet playing a game and Trevor is immediately intrigued and taken by Chase who clearly has some major issues going on. Chase clearly needs to be “handled with kid gloves” and Trevor is determined to learn more and find the reasons behind Chase’s sensory issues.
Much of the book is spend on the development of Trevor and Chase’s friendship. Trevor slowly pushes Chase to get past his issues, and it was great to see Chase become more and more comfortable. It is pretty slow going, but I suppose that is understandable given the circumstances. Their relationship doesn’t advance past the friendship stage until almost 65% through the story, so it is definitely a slow go.
There is little subplot outside of the friendship/relationship, until the often used misunderstanding/lack of communication that gets overblown and really disrupts things. Thankfully, there isn’t too much time spent on this, but it was a bit frustrating all the same. In the end, I was rooting and cheering them on as I made it to the finish line. For me, this was a bit slow and lackluster, but the characters were likable and their love story was satisfying in the end.
