“His name is Salvatore Rossi. He’s a vampire. And he’s my true mate.”
By not relying on anyone except himself, Salvatore Rossi escaped a dead-end existence and reached the height of corporate success. But just when he has everything he always wanted, fate throws Salvatore a challenge he can’t solve alone, and a young wolf-shifter comes to his rescue.
Since childhood, Yoram Smith’s family was certain he would grow to become alpha and save their beloved pack from its slow demise. When the time comes for a new leader, Yoram is forced to juggle his duty to care for a splintering pack with his duty to care for an absent mate, and his own strength suffers. Being turned into a vampire didn’t alter Salvatore’s life philosophy: If you don’t rely on anyone, nobody can let you down. But when the boy who saved his life becomes a man who needs his help, the icy vampire must find his humanity.
REVIEW:
To start off, I owe this author a big apology. I’ve had this for a while but it turns out I’m not very good at listening to books. I have far more luck reading them.
Yoram is sweet and adorable and very, very determined. He knows his own mind and knows that Salvatore is his mate and no one can tell him otherwise.
Salvatore is sexy as hell, independent as anything and determined that this young wolf cannot possibly be as important to him as he claims.
This is one of the most frustrating, intriguing stories I have ever read. These two men are absolutely meant to be together, but it sure takes a while for them (well at least Salvatore) to figure it out.
I have read all the stories in this series and have loved each one. They are all loosely connected and Salvatore and Yoram aren’t the first Vampire/shifter romance to come around in this series. I really love the author’s world building here. The stories take place over a very long period of time and I’ve been waiting for a leader to come to the wolfpack for what feels like forever.
The fact that Salvatore hurts himself and Yoram by denying the truth for so long makes me want to smack him but when you know his back story, you can kind of understand where he’s coming from.
The chemistry between the two men is out of this world and I very much enjoyed Yoram’s quiet strength as he works to heal his pack and take care of someone who doesn’t appreciate it at first.
Once they finally find their way, the fight isn’t over but at least they eventually end up on the same side.
Cardeno C has a unique voice and even if their name wasn’t on the cover I’m betting I could tell that they wrote it anyhow.
As for Charlie David, he’s a fantastic narrator. His smooth style brings the story to life and once I finally got myself listening to it, I couldn’t stop. He was the perfect choice for this story and I can see why he’s the author’s chosen reader for this series and more.
If shifters and vampires get you going, then this is the perfect story for you. It definitely deserves all five hearts I can give it.
