REVIEW:
Adventure, forgiveness, second chance at happiness are just a few of the reasons that this story captured my attention from the beginning. The first main character is Jamie Johnson, who is a professional photographer but a tragedy has had horrible ramifications on him. Of course at this point of the story I wasn’t sure of his past but the author in just a few paragraphs had his character so appealing that I was already fascinated by the prospect of this storytelling. The reasons for the cruise is to promote his and his sisters-in- law’s business. However, it is easy to catch on that his sisters-in-law also has ulterior motives. His tragedy was something that they both had in common, the loss of his husband was also the of her brother. Just with all horrible
unnecessary tragedies, each person is effected differently. I was able to feel and sympathizes with devastation as if I had the same connection as the author did to this character. That is how amazing this author was able to articulate the bone crushing loss Jamie faced the day he lost his husband and for the last 5 years as he mourned and struggled to physically heal as well.
Enter’s our rather frisky love them and leave bachelor, Dexter Fordyce. When this other MC comes into play, poor Jamie has absolutely no idea how to handle him. To be honest I didn’t really like how Dexter’s character was portrayed at first. I didn’t think there was a need for there to be a threesome involving the same night he was trying to make his indications known to
Jamie. It was already stated exactly how Dexter wasn’t a relationship type of guy. Other than that, I enjoyed the slow and steady pace that their blossoming friendship started with. The rawness and exposed part each character willingly opens themselves to the other and eventually takes it to the sexual level is to me what made their foundation the strongest.
Absolutely a fantastic read, and once I thought our main MC’s had a happily ever after, the author stunned me the last parting paragraph.
