REVIEW:
Biker book at it’s best! I fell in love with this story from the first page. This author had me invested from the moment she wrote his first thought. Wow! The description of Lincoln was so vivid to me it was like I could visually see him as I read the story. From his stoic face, to the corners of his lips would slightly turn up on those briefest smiles. The most visual face that I could see was the look of hurt, devastating, and being at a total lost. That was the first face I could see when this story started. Unable to protect his sister from an unfortunate mishap during birth at the hands of the medical professional. Lincoln’s size along sends off the “don’t mess with vibe” adding to the fact that he runs a biker’s club he is pretty much left alone. It’s a hard life when dad ran off, mom drank herself to an early grave and being tossed around until he reached adulthood. The only family he had was is sister and after her death he decided that things would change for the better.
However, that isn’t how live works and that sure isn’t what is in the cards for Lincoln. Being arrested for rape was the last thing he ever thought he would be accused for and fearing his life would be sentenced behind bar’s and his niece would be raised by stranger’s. His lifeline is the attorney that helped him get justice for his sister and custody if his niece.
What he didn’t expect was for a suit, that was worn by a fine specimen of the male variety. Mason’s character is the total opposite which makes this the perfect story. You have a man that was raised by loving parent, has older brother’s that are just as successful at what they do however, he never feels worthy of their father cause he didn’t follow in the same footstep as him and his brother’s. He was that need to work hard, show his willingness to do what it takes to earn his father’s approval. So when his father approaches him about taking on this additional case he does even though he knows it will only increase his work load.
The first meeting between these two is field with tension of mistrust as well as sexual. It’s a frustrating case when no one is willing to talk cause of a biker’s code, a potential jail time sentence if he is unable to prove the innocence of his client when his client is holding back truths of that night.
The best part of this book is Lincoln’s niece River. She is more of as adult at five years old then the two of them. The connection she forms with Mason brings Lincoln closer to realizing it’s time to open his heart again. River teaches Mason to step up for what he wants and to stop wallowing when things don’t happen.
These three are definitely a trio that was made to be together. The author was so amazing in the way she put her heart into each of these character’s. There were just as many side character’s that were powerful and gave the story what it needed.
The only thing I wished the author would have explored more was the feelings of Mason’s family towards their relationship changing. It was clear that they accepted Lincoln and River, his father also knew Lincoln prior cause he had him as a client but it was never clear how they accepted the status change of Lincoln and River becoming Mason’s family.
