I’ve had my fair share of less-than-proud relationship moments, but waking up married to my brother-in-law’s best friend is a new low.
A drunken wedding to a man who already rejected me once? Check.
A hefty bet about how long it will last? Check.
My feisty new husband, determined to make our friends pay up? Double check.
I’ve never managed to make a real relationship last nearly a year, and there’s no way Daniel will stick around long enough to win this bet. The only problem is the longer he stays, the more the lines blur between what’s real and what’s for show.
Does he feel it, too, or am I totally screwed?
Screwed is a woke-up-married, faking-it-to-their-friends, but also totally hooking up, sweet, steamy love story that happens to be the fourth book in the Four Bears Construction series. There are no bear shifters in this series, only the other kind of bears.
REVIEW:
Note: This is book 4 in this series and contains major spoilers for the previous books. This is a great series and I recommend reading in order.
Well this time what happens in Vegas doesn’t stay in Vegas. Ollie and the gang from Four Bears heads off to Vegas for the bachelor party for Cole and Ren who are to be married in Hawaii. There is of course a mixup and Ollie and Daniel, Ren’s best friend and best man, end up sharing a room. AWKWARD! Earlier in the year, Ollie and Daniel had a quick hookup after yet another boyfriend disaster for the thrice divorced Ollie has taken place, but Daniel shot down anything else. But after a blackout drunk evening, Ollie and Daniel wake up married. Great. Now more ammunition for the guys to rake Ollie over the coals about.
When Daniel and Ollie meet the rest of the guys, Daniel decides he’s had enough of sad Ollie and lies to the guys about their relationship, claiming the marriage is real. The guys don’t believe them and wagers are made. But Daniel and Ollie decide to go all in on this little farce to put the rest of the guys in their place. So they just have to stay married for 8 months and they will win the bet.
But something funny happens on the way to winning the bet. Daniel has some job issues and Ollie ends up being a supportive husband and helps Daniel figure some things out. And of course there is the little issue of their hilarious rules on hooking up since they are married but not “married.” And then they go and fall in love, slowly but sure after becoming the best of friends. It’s adorable.!!
This might just be my favorite book in the series. I’ve had a soft spot for Ollie since the beginning of this series. Daniel’s transformation from cynical hook-up guy to real partner is only one part of this story. I loved how he had Ollie’s back and how he really helped Ollie figure out why he’d been such a disaster at marriage in the past. Daniel’s playfulness really brings out Ollie’s more open side. Ollie is such a sweetheart – and that has caused him to be taken advantage of. Their back and forth friendship ends up being a wonderful foundation for what becomes their love story. I of course loved getting to see Cole and Ren, Stone and Dare and Ev and Watson again. Each character and couple bring something a little bit different to this series and this book in particular. I LOVED how Daniel took Ollie’s side and protected him from his friends who continue to make him the butt of jokes that have gone on way to long about his tender heart and his desire to be in a relationship. I just really loved these two and how they managed to make it to their HEA. Also the narration is spot on! I love this combination of Tim Paige and Liam DiCosimo. I would listen to them any day of the week. They did a great job of keeping all the major character voices from this series – and their are 8 of them – consistent throughout all these audios. Bravo! Highly recommended.
