Can I even be called a biker when I can’t ride anymore?
Four years ago, Adam Gamble suffered a head injury that left him with sporadic absence seizures that have limited his autonomy. Hating how much he’s come to rely on his club brothers, Adam decides to move out of the clubhouse.
After failing to rekindle a past relationship, NYPD detective Tyson McCormick is wary of getting into another one anytime soon. An unexpected lunchtime hookup is just what he needs, but afterward, he can’t seem to get Adam out of his mind.
When the two start seeing each other, Adam worries that once he tells Tyson about his condition, things will change between them. Both men want to take things slow, but sometimes love has other ideas.
REVIEW:
If you have been following this series, we know that the Hedonist is a Motorcycle Club whose different members are the main characters in this book series. Contrary to what people might conceived about what a Motorcycle Club is, that is not the Hedonist. They are a club who has legitimate businesses around the city. They follow the law, although sometimes when they are being bullied or their reputation and members intimidated, they have to do something about it drastically in order to stop it.
This story will focus on Adam. You might recall that in the first book of the series, while protecting the younger brother of their club brother and leader who died, he was also injured due to an attack while he was getting some items from the apartment where the Morgan lived, he suffered extensive injuries that included a head injury that left him with sporadic absence seizures that then resulted to his limited autonomy. Due to this limitation, he has come to rely on hís brothers that he feels ashamed of and makes him feel useless and helpless. So he has decided to move out and share an apartment with Mick in Henry, just a few minutes’ ride outside of the city. His brothers are concerned for him and tried to dissuade him from moving out of the clubhouse. But Adam feels that he needs to do it. He feels suffocated and overwhelmed by how much his brothers are trying to protect and watch out for him.
Tyson thought he was so in love with Flynn. He thought Flynn was the one for him. But Flynn was still in love with Matteo, Adam’s brother in the club. So he stopped hoping and just accepted that they were not meant to be. But life has its way of making up for all the pain. Being friends with Flynn has put him in the path of meeting Adam. What started out as a lunch-time hookup turn out into so much more. They started seeing each other, at first just for more hookups, but not long after both felt that they wanted more. These guys are in their late twenties and early thirties, they are in that part of their lives where they are hoping for more than hookups already. And being surrounded by friends who are married or engaged can make you wish for that yourself.
A fitting end to the series. Adam has been here since the first book. He has been with his club brothers through all the upheavals and challenges the club has faced. He has been there when his brothers needed him to be there. And although at first he really believed that he has become a hindrance to them, in reality they needed him too. He is an integral part of the Hedonist Club.
I am so happy that finally Adam got his happily ever after, and to a very beautiful, smart, handsome man in Detective Tyson McCormick. They fit each other perfectly! I am going to miss these beautiful men and this beautiful series but also looking forward to what is coming next. Congratulations Ms. Rebecca James!
