Author Gray Hawthorne has it all and he’s on the verge of having even more. His bestselling detective novels are being turned into a movie series that will make him a household name and he’s rubbing a lot more than just elbows with Hollywood’s elite. Money, fame and good looks mean an endless supply of men, both groupies and celebrities alike, which suits Gray just fine. He’s smart enough to know that his 5 minutes in the spotlight will be just that and he plans to enjoy every moment. Until he gets the devastating news that threatens to steal everything away…
Army Ranger Luke Monroe lives and breathes the military. They’re the family he never had and a life without his brothers-in-arms is unfathomable. But the ultimate betrayal has Luke on the run and a twist of fate leads him to the small town of Dare, Montana to seek help from the foster brother who saved him once before. Only the brother he’s searching for isn’t the man he finds and he has no choice but to keep running. Until an encounter on the side of the road with a stranger changes everything.
The last thing Gray wants when he seeks refuge at his cabin in the secluded Montana mountains is company but a run-in with the mysterious and very straight Luke has Gray offering the damaged soldier a place to regroup. And since a physical relationship isn’t even on the table, Gray finds himself enjoying something he hasn’t had in a long time…a real friend.
But what happens when friendship just isn’t enough? When a man who’s only been with women begins to crave more?
With one man running from his past and the other running from his future, will finding each other be enough to bring them peace?
REVIEW:
Book three of the Finding Series by Ms. Sloane Kennedy. We met Gray Hawthorne in book two where he and Dane met at the town’s bookstore while Dane was buying books for Emma. For a while there, Gray flirted with Dane and even got invited for dinner at Dane’s house. But that was the end of it. Gray knew then that Dane only had eyes for Jax.
Gray writes books, and one of his book series, three books from it actually got picked up and will be made into movies. There was a scandal involving him and one of the major stars in the movie so Gray finally decided it was time for him to visit the house he bought in Dare a few years ago. On his way home one day, he nearly hit a dog who was sitting in the middle of the road. When he tried to coax the dog to stay off the road, it somehow led him to the side and there he found a man curled up. When he tried to help the man, he was punched on his chest. Unbeknownst to the man, Gray wasn’t really feeling great at that moment. So it ended up Gray being helped by the man until they reached his cabin. He vomited several times and the man had to help him to bed.
Luke has been falsely accused or framed for murder, that is why he is on the run and carries a gun. He came to Dare hoping to ask for help from his foster brother, but when he saw his brother was a cop again he thought twice about asking for his help. He didn’t want to jeopardize what his foster brother has now. He was on his way out of town again when he just blacked out(which we will later on was caused by some memories coming back). He was so tired from walking, sleeping outside and being hungry. That was when Gray found him on the side of the road and in a ditch.
These two men are experiencing some painful events in their individual lives. I can’t imagine being all alone and having to go through something monumental with regards to my health. And the feeling of being helpless and hopeless because you have no one to turn to to help you out might make me crazy. Oh my God, these books are going to be the death of me, but I wouldn’t not read it. It is so good. There is one sentence towards the end of the book that will make you bawl your eyes out! Look out for that.
Whenever I read a book by Ms. Sloane Kennedy, I fall in love with each character, I love how imperfect they are, how flawed they are, because it makes them all human. Gray and Luke will make you cry and laugh! They are just so perfect for each other! If you haven’t started reading Ms. Sloane Kennedy, you should start right now!
