Curious of the friendship between the two men pictured, Charlie and Ian set off to solve the mystery of their relationship. With the help of the meddling ghost, a magical mirror, and a way-too-smart TV, they find answers…and more.

Doesn’t Rachel know Ian is straight? Or is he?
That kiss they shared the other night sure didn’t seem like it. Or the one after that…
REVIEW:
Charlie Muir inherits a bit ole house in Brooklyn from a distant relative he’s never heard of. But he’s been raised in the system and finally things seem to be going his way. It’s a great location and a gorgeous house. It also comes with a gorgeous neighbor.
Ian is a contractor/electrician who lives in his parent’s place – in his own apartment – next door to Charlie’s new house. He volunteers to help Charlie out when strange thing happen when Charlie moves in. He agrees to check out the roof and a few other things that have Charlie concerned.
Charlie and Ian become friends. Both are young guys who want to date, but there seems to be some major interference whenever they are about to connect with anyone. At first this all seems coincidental, but then a ghost named Rachel makes herself known. And she insists that Ian and Charlie need to help her a mission to solve something that has happened in her family’s past. Eddie and Robert were star-crossed lovers a hundred years earlier and she needs to help the get together. She’s been waiting for Charlie and Ian to come along. They are not really excited about this prospect, but it appears they don’t have a choice. Luckily for them, it seems like really might have a shot at something together.
This is a very sweet opposites attract, friends to lovers with a second chances twist. I really liked both Charlie and Ian, although I will admit at times I wanted to shake each of them 🙂 Charlie’s issues from having been an unwanted foster kid have long lasting repercussions and he’s got some real self esteem issues. That being said, at this point in his life, he does know how to take care of himself should he need to. But once Ian’s on the scene, he makes it his business to make sure that Charlie doesn’t get hurt. His strange protective bent towards Charlie is evident immediately and he really has no idea why 😉
Rachel the ghost is a constant thorn in Charlie and Ian’s side. She meddles a LOT in their relationship(s). Ian’s reaction I think is pretty realistic, in that he is pretty pissed off that she keeps popping up and wrecking his attempts at romance. Charlie is also a bit perturbed with her, but he is pretty quick about figuring out it does have something to do with a doomed love affair 100 years in the past. I particularly enjoyed the historical aspect of this story and the rather unhappy love story of Eddie and Robert. Ian and Charlie are rather the unwitting pawns in Rachel’s quest, but luckily it works out 🙂
I really enjoyed the other secondary characters in this story as well. In particular, I liked the way Ian’s bisexual (or maybe demisexual) awakening was handled by his boss. I thought his friends were idiots but they luckily came around. I REALLY loved Ian’s parents. Just awesome people. Matt Haynes did a great job narrating this story. There are a lot of voices and he took his time and gave every one a distinct sound and viewpoint. I look forward to more of his work. While this is a long read, I recommend it for those folks who like a sweet romance that has some quirky moments and a happy ending 😀
