Coulson is straight. So why was he checking Seth out?
Seth is an out and proud Secret Service agent. When he’s asked to assist the FBI on the investigation into the presidential assassination, he meets FBI agent Coulson.
Coulson is straight, or so he says. Seth has no reason to doubt that, not even when they become close friends.
Until he finds himself checking Coulson out a little too closely—especially certain over-sized body parts—and Coulson doing the same to him. For someone who’s straight, Coulson shows a lot of interest in Seth’s dating life, his preferences, and his hook ups. Could it be that he’s not so straight after all?
Meanwhile, every discovery they make in the investigation leads to even more questions. Who killed the president and how did they manage to pull it off? And more importantly: are they done killing…or will more attacks follow?
Friends is an intimate friends-to-lovers romance that begins with a slow burn beautiful friendship but ends in high steam and the happiest of endings. It’s the second book in the White House Men series, a romantic suspense gay romance series set in the White House. Think The West Wing but gay and with less politics. Each book has a new love story with a happily ever after, but the suspense plot ends on a cliffhanger and will be continued in the rest of the series, so the series needs to be read in order. Friends has 95k words. Strong TW for detailed description of terrorist attack.
REVIEW:
If you’ve read book 1 of this series, then you know that there are some triggers. And big ones. Although nothing like that happens again in this book, they are working on the cases in what happened, and it brings up memories and for some PTSD. It’s a hard road they are travelling in this one as they try to wrap their heads around what happened and is happening and make some shocking discoveries as to other things that should have occurred.
If I had to tell the truth about these books, I would have to say so far, this is my favorite. And I know that sounds weird to a point, considering what these books are about. But even though the plot and stuff in book 1 was off the charts, this one was even higher. Because as they are digging into the investigation, more information is unfolding and it sends shockwaves through everyone at the depravity and at who else should have been targeted. And possibly why.
But I love the connection between Coulson and Seth as well. As coworkers, they work so well together. As friends that are forming a bond, they are becoming inseperable. As things possibly turn to more, it’s interesting to watch. The discoveries about the cases they are working, are one thing, but the discoveries they are making of themselves, is astounding. And more for Coulson, as he’s entering uncharted territory. But what I love even more is how patient Seth is. And Seth has some discoveries of his own and some news that cements things for him. There’s a lot going on in this book. And it all turns out into a good thing. In one sense. It’s a cliffhanger to a point, in another.
It’s been one heck of a series so far. I’m anxious to see who they discover is behind all of this. I’m kind of getting maybe an inkling, but I’ve known to be wrong before so I’m not saying lol. All I know is I’m ready to see what happens next. This is a series you don’t want to miss. If you haven’t read it, you need to. It’s a thrill and a half. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it.
