Happily ever after doesn’t come easily as Max and Ethan discover while their families struggle to put together the ultimate wedding ceremony for them. The momentous event is meant to bring the Pooles and Winters together, but it seems to be doing the exact opposite as both sides fight for what they want. It’s a distraction while Ethan handles a troublesome client and Max battles ingrained suspicion about his parents. Though joining together in wedded bless seems destined to be as tricky as their initial romance was, Max and Ethan are determined to get it right.
REVIEW:
This series has not disappointed from book 1. Ethan and Max have come a long way (13 books!) and I love them just as much, if not more, now than ever. They have a very unique D/S relationship that has been very interesting and refreshing at the same time. This installment is a little different in that it isn’t as intense D/S-wise as the previous books. It focuses more on the upcoming wedding – to be held in Ethan’s hometown. This leads to various issues.
Max still has lingering doubts about the sincerity of his parents’ change of heart and the worry remains about them fitting in and accepting the wedding in the not as elegant setting Ethan and Max have chosen. They have left all of the planning up to the mothers, but those issues are still present. Likewise, Ethan is unsure of Max fitting in as well, but their visit home shows, yet again, how wonderful these two are and how perfect they are for each other.
There is a further issue of Ethan’s new assigned client, a reality star with many issues of his own who is hell bent on using Ethan and pulling him into his drama.
My favorite aspect is watching Max and Ethan in their daily lives. Ethan is able to be independent but there is never any doubt Max is the center of his universe, and we have seen that the same is true for Max. While it was easier for Ethan, we have had to watch Max transform a bit, although he never really had another option with Ethan in the mix. This series is truly a gem and one of my all-time favorites. As I said previously, the D/S aspect is unique and refreshing. No typical BDSM type scenes, but Max is most definitely the Master of Ethan. Can’t recommend this any more and while it feels like we are at the end of this series, I’m still holding out hope there is more to come.
