BLURB:

It’s time for pedicabby extraordinaire, Andy Molina, to find his man.

For the couple of years he’s lived on Catalina Island, Andy has been happy not to get tied down to any guy…or to any plan for his future.

But eventually, chickens will come home to roost. Especially if one of the chickens is a father with high expectations for his son.

Because while Andy’s been living the life of a laid back beach bum pedi-cab driver, there’s more to him than meets the eye.

There’s also more to Chad, the buff blond snorkeling guide who Andy’s been keeping an eye on lately.

After a couple of mucked up first impressions, it’s easy for Andy to dismiss Chad as just another island himbo, and for Chad to dismiss Andy as kind of a jerk.

But even if these two discover the specialness in each other, could Andy’s question mark of a future tear them apart all over again?

REVIEW:

Chasing Chad is the charming fourth book in I.M. Flippy’s Catalina Dreams series. The love stories in this series are centered on Catalina Island off the coast of Long Beach, California. Andy Molina is the last  unattached man standing in his group of friends. He has enjoyed being single and carefree, but now wants what his buddies Charlie and Gus have with their boyfriends. He’s living a happy-go-lucky island life working sporadically as a pedicab driver. He’s just a regular guy, with a big personality and a big secret. Unbeknownst to his friends, Andy is a Yale graduate and is living off his filthy rich fatherHe grew up in a tight-knit family and never wanted for anything. Now dad wants Andy to quit goofing off and come home to work for the family business. But Andy has no interest in following in his father’s footsteps, plus he loves living on Catalina. And … he’s just met a man who intrigues him  Chad.

Chad and Andy come from two different worlds. When he was young, Chad’s mom left him and his father. His dad smacked him around and then kicked him out of the house when he was seventeen. Homelessness followed, but Chad pulled himself up and now works multiple jobs to get by and save for college. Chad meets Andy, they stumble along for a while, and soon they’re cruising along just fine until they have to deal with family interference.

Chasing Chad is in keeping with the style of the rest of the series. Andy is one of the first characters we met on Catalina, and I probably speak for other readers when I say I couldn’t wait for the story of this exuberant, fun-loving young manClever Ms. Flippy made us wait three more books!  Charlie and Jason, Gus and Rae, and Eric and Todd all have appearances here. I was so pleased that Charlie, as Andy’s best friendhas a substantial role.

Chad is the ideal partner for Andy and their ending is perfect; all of their dreams come true. If this is the last book, I’m going to miss visiting CatalinaThe author has done a superb job of recreating the island in the minds of her readers. Her novels are full of colorful imagery of the small, sleepy waterfront town of Avalon, with all its beauty and memorable residents. I’m also going to miss her lovely, quirky leading men. They’re the type of guys you’d like to grab a beer with.

Chasing Chad is a must read if you’ve indulged in the rest of the series. It can be read as a standalone, but I recommend the full series for optimal enjoyment. This is a fun book you won’t regret reading.
