Life in the wings has its disadvantages…
One-time third-wheel in the boy-band Glam Grenade, Danny DiMarco’s existed just shy of center stage for as long as he can remember—a supporting player to two best friends who depended on him to pull their weight. While they made bank, he’s left reeling when his father’s death tangles his future in the red tape of empty contracts and drained accounts.
But the show must go on.
Jackson ‘Jacks’ Turner wears many hats, most of them gathering dust. An ex-model and an in-denial fashion designer, what he doesn’t plan to accessorize with is a newbie sub who shows up on his front doorstep looking for an introduction to the world of D/s inside Anniston Falls’ exclusive gay, members-only club.
Shea Warren is no stranger to covert ops. A Navy SEAL, he knows the ins and outs of hiding in plain sight. When Danny runs afoul of the club’s most powerful cliques on his first…and second…night as his roommate’s guest, the mission becomes clear. Protect the sweet, unassuming sub before he becomes a casualty of Jacks’ wear-em-once style.
There’s no rehearsal for this next set.
The Asylum might be more accepting of sequins and spandex than most, but Danny’s not coming to come out. In fact, with sponsors whose conservative ties pay his bills, it’s more than undesirable. It’s impossible. Except, sometimes Cupid has other plans.
Just when Danny needs to hide most, he’s headed for the last place he ever wanted to be…
In the spotlight.
REVIEW:
First of I want to mention from the moment I started this series I became a huge fan. I love the world authors Bianca Sommerland and Tibby Armstrong created. I fell head over heels for the core members, both Doms and Subs.
The entourage, the familiar bonding, the intensity…it all appealed to me enormously. I loved how the authors made sure that you were totally involved with the men in these stories. It was like you are living in their own created world and sharing their space.
The books are long and are no standalones, despite having different couples. The stories contain a lot of characters who show up everywhere at the Asylum.
That being said I have to honestly admit I got a bit lost. Like I mentioned I love the core members but with the entanglement I was feeling like I was losing some of the connection by bringing in more characters.
It is difficult to not mention details as I refuse to spoil in a review so lets keep it that I was scared that besides the already existing relationships and then I included the crossovers, which I love btw, that there would be more there.
As this series keeps pulling at me I needed to find a way back in, which I did and am glad for that.
This 7th book is about Danny, former member of one of the sub royalty from the asylum and his finding what he has been searching for all along…even things he didn’t know he was looking for.
Uneven Justice is not a light read and I mean that on an emotional level. It has different struggles including Danny’s but also Jacks and Shea’s as well.
I found myself cheering for Danny and wanting him to find his even ground. I love Jacks for his strong will, for being who he is. Sweet, kind, thoughtful and so willing to try. I found myself mad most of the time at Shea for not telling anyone what was happening, yet really enjoying how he “got” Danny. You can only imagine all those emotions coming together in a long, bad ass book!
I do feel like the book is a bit too long. There is such a built up and sometimes I noticed that I kind of wanted to push the story along if that makes sense. And on a personal note, the little twitch on the end is just not my cup of tea, but like I said that is personal.
I do love how all three men are testing what works for them as they find their boundaries. They seek advise from others and are interested in spreading out and learning.
What makes a book for me when despite everything it makes me want to keep reading, not wanting to lay it down because I need to know what’s going to happen and that for sure is what this book did. Just like all the other books in the series did.
Can I just say one more thing? Can I please have one of Jacks hoodies to snuggle into? Everyone can use a Jacks hoodie from time to time!
If you are already following this series you will have a wonderful time catching up with the Asylum members. If you’re not familiar with the series, go and pick up book 1 and let yourself fall in love with all these wonderful people.
Don’t expect any smooth sailing but the “pay off” is so worth it 😉
