It’s never worked with two. Is three the magic number?
Cairo has been my bestie for years. He’s sexy, charming, and absolutely gorgeous. Even though the attraction is strong, my track record taught me to keep the line between friendship and more intact.
But then Luca entered our world with his southern drawl, bedroom eyes, and sexy smirk, quickly making a play for not one but both of us. Sounds like a recipe for trouble. I refuse to hand over my heart and get it stomped on again. No matter how hard both of them try to convince me I’m safe.
Luca and Cairo can chase, but they’ll never catch me…
Catch Me is a super steamy friends to lovers MMM story with a charming and determined Southern boy, two friends who can’t see what’s right in front of them, and piercings in fun places. It is book three in the Tattoos and Temptation series featuring hot Miami nights, Latin desserts, and guys with ink.
It can be read as a standalone, but it’s definitely more fun to read in order.
REVIEW:
Note: This is the fourth book in this series, and as such contains spoilers for the previous three books 🙂 I heartily recommend reading them in order.
Genesis and Cairo work at Dulce Santo bakery together. They’ve been inseparable BFFs since they started and that continues. They have been determined to keep things in the friendzone but they have a lot of fun together and support each other. Genesis has had a hard family background and he’s never felt like he fit in anywhere. He’s been unlucky in love and he’s not willing to go there again – so he has Cairo as his BFF and hook-ups for whatever else he needs. He has his own space and he likes it that way.
Cairo has a loving if somewhat eccentric family. He’s inherited a 10,000 square foot mansion that he lives in alone. It’s way too much for one person, but he’s trying to make the best of it. He’s happiest when he has someone with him to make the house not feel so lonely.
Luca is a newer tattoo artist at Black Heart, the shop across the street from the bakery. He meets Cairo and Genesis when both crews go out to a club earlier in this series. He’s definitely attracted to both guys and he comes over to the bakery a lot to chat them up 😉 When he proposes that they all three go out on the weekend, both guys are a little bit wary of what this is. But he convinces them it’s a bit of fun – even though he’s hoping for more.
As they continue to grow closer and spend more time together, it’s obvious that Luca wants more than just sex. He’s more able to convince Cairo that his intentions are real, but Genesis is another story. He’s got a bit of baggage and some bad breakups in his past so he’s not too confident that this is a good idea at all beyond the sex. There are underlying issues not only between Luca and the boys, but between Genesis and Cairo. There has always been something more there, but they’ve ignored it in favor of maintaining their friendship bond. Luca has to work to convince them that being together will work – for all of them. At first their are some jealousy issues, but Luca spends time with and really gets to know both guys.
Genesis is still reluctant to believe that this arrangement will work. He’s still struggling with his feelings of worth and his experience of being left behind. While he might survive the break up of a love affair, he won’t survive losing his best friend. So it’s up to Luca and Cairo to convince him that neither of those things will happen and that they love him for who he is. It takes a lot of love and communication to make sure everyone is on the same page – and there are a couple of really sweet gestures on everyone’s part. Particularly Luca’s. What a sweetheart!
I am just really loving this series 🙂 Each new book is bringing something different to the table. In this story we have Genesis and Cairo who are besties but both kind of wishing for more – even if they can’t really accept that. Then in comes Luca. He takes one look at these two and knows he needs to make them his. He loves their dynamic together, but thinks that the three of them could have so much more 😉 Both Gen and Cai are reluctant at first, but Cairo is the first to admit that he’s been lonely and he loves having Luca around. Gen, however is a very tough nut to crack. He’s had a rough go in the romance department with people only seeing the packaging and not caring about the person underneath the glam 🙁 He’s determined to never be hurt again. Both Gen and Cai also struggle with some jealousy at first not understanding what is really happening and what Luca really wants. But I think that’s natural in a more unconventional romance 🙂 But Luca is really good at assuring them that he really does care about both of them and that there isn’t a problem with any of the configurations of the three 😛 I just really enjoyed the whole story and watching how these guys worked out their dynamic to a relationship that provides love and support for all. Also there are a LOT of sexy times, so if that’s your jam, you’re in for a treat.
The stories in this series are sweet without being sappy and the characters are all working their way towards happiness. They are all works in progress, but they are working together to make something lasting. The writing is really appealing to me – conflict but without heavy angst and really more focused on the characters coming into their own and defining what kind of relationships they really want. I absolutely cannot wait for the rest of the books in this series. I can read them in one sitting and get an HEA, which in these times especially is really appreciated. Recommended!
