My crush has Daddy written all over him
The minute I laid eyes on him he became my new hobby. I turned on the charm to win him over, only to get friendzoned. The more time we spend together, the more glimpses I get of the Daddy he’s hiding under his no dating allowed exterior. Unfortunately for Saint, a Daddy is exactly what this boy is looking for.
I have no intention of staying friends with him, but with every platonic interaction, I start feeling things I never have. And not just about the sexy Scottish object of my affection.
I wasn’t looking for someone to fix me, but if I let him in we might have something amazing here.
If we can just shake the ghosts from the past…
Fix Me is a Daddy/boy story with a doting but reluctant Daddy, a bratty party boy in need of some structure, and fun times with a kilt. It is book two in the Tattoos and Temptation series featuring hot Miami nights, Latin desserts, and guys with ink.
It can be read as a standalone.
REVIEW:
Note: This is the second book in this series and while it can be read as a standalone, there are major spoilers for Book 1. I recommend reading Book 1 – it’s delightful 😀
Casper Reyes is a tattoo artist at an up and coming tattoo shop. His boss, Jude, is a really good guy. He’s engaged to a baker, Briar, who works at a bakery just across the street from the tattoo shop. The guy who owns the bakery, Saint, is a big gorgeous Scottish man who keeps to himself. During an outing with Jude and Briar and the rest of the bakery staff, Casper joins the fun at a local gay bar. Somehow the group has convinced Saint to join them – which is an extremely rare event. Casper is smitten right away. They have a nice conversation, but Saint doesn’t date.
While Casper thinks they’ve had a nice time together, he tries for more after a number of “innocent” trips to the bakery for empanadas. But Saint shoots him down when he tries for more. Casper’s really disappointed, but eventually Saint apologizes and agrees to be friends. Of course Casper accepts, but he doesn’t really give up on getting Saint to see him as more than a friend. He’s a boy in need of a Daddy and Saint fits the bill perfectly. While their friendship is a bit flirty – at least on Casper’s side, they do keep it platonic. Ish.
But Casper can’t leave it alone and he tries for more. Saint reacts by freezing him out and Casper goes downhill – exhibiting a lot of self-destructive behaviours. Things get to the point where he is literally in danger – but he knows who to call. When Saint helps him, he realizes things have got to change. Saint insists that Casper is worthy, but he does have work to do. He needs rule and discipline and someone to show him the way. Casper has to confess the bit of a wreck his live has become.. He’s made poor decisions in the past and he’s gotten caught in a bad situation that he can’t seem to extricate himself from. Between bad choices in boyfriends and his distancing from his family who did not accept his sexuality, he’s been on his own for a while and it’s not gone really well.
Saint has kept to himself after losing his first love in a devastating manner. He’s not sure he’ll ever be ready to put his heart out there again. It’s been over a decade, but he’s still a bit broken. What he realizes is that maybe Casper is just what he needs to heal that part of himself and be able to live again. Of course things aren’t that easy 🙂 There are ghosts from the past that have to be dealt with and some honest conversations to be had.
I was a little apprehensive about this book only because Daddy/boy is not a kink I particularly like reading about. But I was very pleasantly surprised with this story. I felt really bad for Casper because he’s in a pretty low place. The abuse he suffered in his past relationship – the gift that keeps on giving – has led him to have a real crisis in his self-worth. He doesn’t feel like he deserves to be loved or respected or taken care of or trusted. Saint has lost his first love and he’s lost his way because he’s been unable to move past it. Although he’s gone through some therapy, he’s kept himself closed off. But Casper is the one he can’t ignore 🙂 He knows what Casper needs and he does want to be there for him, but he truly doesn’t think he can survive another loss. Luckily they have some help in opening up their eyes and getting out of their own way 😉 The characters from the first book – especially Briar and Jude – provide assistance without overstepping 😀 I loved seeing them again – as well as the rest of the characters in the bakery and the tattoo shop. I really enjoyed this story of second chances and hurt/comfort for both of these characters. Also, this author provides some free nice bonus scenes that are a welcome addition to the stories as well. I’m really looking forward to the rest of this series. Recommended!
