REVIEW:
A fitting end-of-a-series story for a KING! For someone who has been there for the Variks through few good times and so much bad and painful times! He is the one who holds everyone together, the father, the strength and the love of the clan!
If you have been following this series, this is its fifth and last book. The first book is Claiming Marcus. The second book is Saving Rafe. The third book is Waking Bel. The fourth book is Embracing Winter. This series focuses on brothers Marcus, Rafe, Bel and Winter and their father, Aiden, the new King of the American Vampires. Aiden became their father when he fell in love with their mother, Julianna, and her sons. Aiden knew from the moment he met the four boys that he will always love them and do his best to protect them!
After a tumultuous several months protecting his family from other clans who want to do them harm purely because they thought the Variks want to rule the Americas, things are finally on the mend. Well, as much as Aiden and his four sons could mend and bring forth the changes that will ensure the right path for all of them, for the Variks and for all the other clans in America. Aiden didn’t want to be King, but after his sons convinced him that he is indeed the rightful one, deep down he also knows that he could do a lot of good, he finally stepped into the role.
The start of the story finds us in the party to officially welcome all vampires, with or without a clan, and to officially present Aiden as the King of the Americas! He never thought that the visiting emissaries from the European Ministry would include the “love of his life,” who he thought died on the night they were both supposedly killed (but instead turned). And just when he thought his life would now just consist of unending matters to attend to as a King, did he dare hope for a chance to finally be with the first person he had ever loved before Julianna? His mind might have doubts but his heart is totally for it! Where before they never had the chance to express their love for each other and be together in every sense, this is finally their time to be able to do all those things and have a chance at a happily-ever-after! They knew that they loved each other even then, Ronan fits him, they are each other’s halves.
With his sons’ and their mates’ protectiveness to contend with, the looming threat of the European Ministry’s desire to influence Aiden’s decisions over the Americas, a banished clan’s determination to create havoc and the return of his long lost love, Aiden wouldn’t have it any other way, this is where he is meant to be, what he is meant to do, with the family he loves and would die for! He would do everything in his power to protect the people he loves. He will even do something that he hasn’t done in centuries to accomplish that once and for all!
The way this tale was written is a fitting tribute to the Father, Man and King Aiden is. He has sacrificed so much for those he loves, the pain he went through for his family is something that he will do again and again simply because that is who he is. Aiden therefore deserves all the happiness he gets!
I am sad to see this series ending but the happiness in my heart knowing that every member of this family is now on the road to happiness fills it to bursting! Thank you Ms. Jocelynn Drake for giving this series to us, it is an honor that I will treasure deep in my heart!
