BLURB:
Branson: I’m a guy who knows what he wants—whether it’s a career goal or a man intriguing enough for me to give chase—once I have the prize in sight, I’m relentless in my pursuit.
This has worked well for me over the years, more specifically, as the bass player of my band, Hard Core. I hear a bass line in anything the guys throw at me, then take those jumbled run of notes and turn it into something our fans will want to buy.
I’m also a man who doesn’t do messy or complicated, and I keep my emotions out of the game—until now. FDNY Lieutenant Sean Conley, one of New York’s bravest, has ruined me for all others because I allowed myself to feel.
Conley: I’m dedicated to putting my own safety aside and saving lives on a daily basis. Just don’t ask me to be part of a concert crowd or I’ll inevitably have a massive panic attack.
Personal trauma pushed me into the closet and I was fine with this life—until rock star Branson Mink happened to cross my path at a fire scene. Worse yet, I think he knows what I’m hiding.
Branson’s hardly the type to be anyone’s secret. Every aspect of his life plays out under the spotlight, while I prefer to keep mine hidden behind that closet door.
I have always left parts of myself private, and now Branson has something to hide too. When our worst fears collide, I’m forced to put mine aside to save the man I love. Turns out, that was easy. The real challenge? Figuring out how to make this relationship work.
REVIEW:
I can always be guaranteed that when Ann Lister sends me away with one of her Rock Gods that I will be burrowed away somewhere where no one can find and interrupt me until I turn the last page!
When rock legend Branson Mink sets his eyes on the sexy Fire Lieutenant at the fire at Nico’s (Blade’s boyfriend) bookstore he knew he had to have that gorgeous man. But then things sour and go south when he finally meets Sean Conley. He seriously questions not only his gaydar but himself. Sean has no idea what to do when Branson Mink, Rock Star and bass player of the legendary group Hard Core, steps into his fire station and starts thanking him and his fellow firefighters for their heroic efforts with his bandmate’s boyfriend’s fire. Then he’s offering the one gift Sean can never, ever accept…passes to their next live show. Sean knows afterwards that he has to somehow talk to Branson but how can he do that without outing himself? And what could the gorgeous rock star ever see in him anyway, he’s a man so far in the closet he needs a roadmap and torch to find the door!
I loved Branson and his no holds barred (and yes I threw in a gratuitous wrestling move just like Conley!) approach to Conley but the sexy, sweet fireman stole my heart from the very beginning and ran with it. Branson transformation thrilled me though and Sean’s loving and caring nature warmed my heart. But I knew something horrible was happening when Branson’s “headaches” kept coming more frequently. But I was not prepared for Conley and Branson’s final journey to accept and profess their love. Ms. Lister about tugged my heart out of my chest at the night club! I did love how each man learned to trust the other and lean on him when things got tough. Communication is key to a successful relationship. I loved how Conley put out his fears to Branson. I just wish Branson had trusted not only Conley but Blade too with his health.
I am thrilled that we are getting more of my new favorite rock band and can’t wait to know all of the boy’s stories! I sure haven’t been ever disappointed on all of Ann Lister’s steamy men!
