Kim Katil Shift to Gray More commotion at the front of the house interrupted further commiseration, and soon enough Brenda ushered a young man into the room. He was off-balance from the weight of the small gargoyle clinging to him, but was supporting young Nix carefully as he walked. He had soft golden hair that tumbled in a curl down to his collar, and his cheeks were a distinct red against his fair skin. His bright blue eyes flitted around the room and landed on the hellhounds with a suddenly joyful expression. “Stay,” Markus told the hounds when they started towards the man. They stopped, then lay down in a disgruntled heap. Dusty walked over and held out his hands for the gargoyle. The man turned slightly, so that Nix could move over easily. But the young gargoyle clutched tighter to the bright-eyed young man and chirruped softly. So that answered that question. Nix had found his chosen. “Oh, fuck,” Brenda said, from where she had moved to stand at Dusty’s side. Fuck was right. The young man was very… fuckable. Dusty couldn’t keep his eyes off him. Not at all what he had expected. Markus’ laughing reaction to his assumption of the man’s military background now made sense. This was not a hardened soldier, but rather a soft, sweet siren of a man. He barely came up to Dusty’s shoulder, and the pink flush that swept his face was adorable.
