BLURB:
Adorably naive and shockingly brilliant Harrison Lessardi only needs two things in life: his pet iguana, Steve, and his undying love of science. That is until he witnesses his best friend lay eggs, and a third must-have strolls into his apartment – the sardonic and mischievous Everard Drake.
Everard Drake, celebrated doctor of the tremendously wealthy Drake family, has one goal in mind when he arrives at the scene of his youngest brother’s latest disaster: incinerate Harrison Lessardi. Unfortunately for Everard, the moment he spots Harry, incineration becomes an impossibility – he must have the gorgeous beta as his own, even if it means holding him captive on his estate.
But something else lurks behind Everard’s interest in Harry – something that tugs at Everard’s soul in impossible ways, and that will send Everard and Harry down a rabbit hole of discovery that will change the world as they know it.
An alpha and a beta can’t share a bond.
Can they?
Bond is a 78,000 word steamy omegaverse mpreg-ish romance that will leave you in stitches. It contains an unexpectedly consensual kidnapping, giant magical lizards, an iguana with a full wardrobe named Steve, never-ending nicknames, and a HEA that may, or may not involve mosquito nets. For maximum enjoyment, Bond is best heard following the events of Clutch.
REVIEW:
Note: As Book 2 in this series, it contains major spoilers for Book 1. Many of the events of this book take place concurrently with Book 1, so it’s advisable to have read/listened to Book 1 first.
Harrison Lessardi is brilliant. He’s achieved his PhD in record time and is an expert in herpetology. Imagine his delight when his room mate, Iggy lays eggs! But then strange things happen – like Iggy’s hook up from several months before showing up to take him away 😉 And hot on his heels the hook up’s brother, Everard comes to find Harry and tie up the loose ends. But when Dr. Everard Drake meets Dr. Harrison Lessardi, an amazing thing happens. And Everard decides to keep Harry – and by default, Harry’s fully wardrobed iguana, Steve.
Harrison is not afraid of Everard – even though he knows he should be. But rather he’s fascinated by the intriguing creature. He wants to study everything about Everard and his kind. And of course he wants to make sure that Iggy is Ok and that his eggs are Ok too. What Harry has never wanted is anyone in a sexual way. But as he spends more time with Everard, and Everard seems absolutely fascinated by him as well, things start to change – for both of them.
Everard is a bit frustrated as he has developed a desire for Harry, but Harry seems completely oblivious to his overtures. He wants to make Harry happy and he loves having him around as he works. He’s interested in his theories about the eggs, etc. He’s hopeful that things are starting to change between him and Harry, but he’s just not sure as Harry seems to be developing a desire for Ev, but he’s completely clueless as to what that means. But when their relationship finally develops a physical component, Harry’s desire seems to change while he health declines. If he spends time away from Ev, he feels ill. He’s spending a lot of time with Perry, Everard’s brother Sebastian’s mate and he loves watching their children and learning from them. But then he’s just really feeling unwell. And when Ev decides to do a thorough examination, he’s absolutely stunned by what he finds! It’s nothing that SHOULD have been able to happen and while he’s thrilled, he’s completely baffled as to how this welcome surprise could have occurred.
Harry’s family, however, is not at all thrilled about this turn of events. And it seems that Harry is not at all what he seems 🙂 His father has a secret and that secret greatly affects Everard and Harry’s future. Harry’s mother is not at all happy about any of it, because she truly has no idea what is happening or why, but she’s very worried about her son.
As things move along with Everard, his family and Harry, there are many more surprises 🙂 Once again, the Drake family has to go before the council to justify their actions and keep their families intact. Harry is absolutely hilarious as he tries to explain his theories and hypotheses to the council. Everard does his best to curb Harry’s enthusiasm, but he’s not altogether successful. However, in the end, he is living proof that at least part of his theory must be true!
OMG! This series is so much fun. Harry is completely adorable and hilarious! His enthusiasm for all things reptilian is both funny and endearing. Everard cannot help but call him pet names – mostly foods – rather than Harry or Harrison. Only when particularly vexed does he bring out the formal names. Everard is also quite adorable and completely flummoxed by Harry. He desires him, but Harry seems to be absolutely and completely clueless for the longest time as Ev tries to woo him. Only after they’ve spent considerable time together does Harry finally get that maybe Everard desires another kind of relationship with him. But he’s never had a relationship before – he’s been totally focused on his schooling and study, so he’s a little slow at picking up what Ev is putting down 😉 It’s all worth it in the end because Harry becomes more than he’s ever dreamed! And his relationship with Ev and the whole Drake family takes just a wonderful and surprising turn and sets up many more adventures in this series. These authors continue their extremely inventive world for these characters and I am thrilled there are more books 🙂 As usual Michael Ferraiuolo does a stellar job of voicing all of these unique and fabulous characters. This series has fast become a favorite and I am just loving every second of them. This book and series are highly recommended!
