BLURB:
Bookish, snarky, and fiercely independent Nate Boudreaux leads a solitary life. Between teaching classes at the university and working toward his PhD, he doesn’t need a partner to occupy his time, and he certainly doesn’t need a man like Alistair Drake complicating his future.
Alistair Drake, black sheep of the tremendously wealthy Drake family, is more interested in adding another notch to his bedpost than another zero to his bank account. When a Grindr message brings him to Nate’s doorstep, then straight to his bed, he has no reason to believe that what they share will be more than a simple hookup, until, three months later, a tug on his soul informs him otherwise.
For the Drake family has a secret – one that will force Nate and Alistair together as much as it will demand that they be torn apart. One that Alistair and his brothers have carried all their lives…and one that Alistair and Nate’s future children will carry, too.
Bound to each other by the three precious impossibilities, Nate and Alistair have no choice – no matter the consequence, they will fight for their forbidden clutch.
Clutch is a 64,000 word steamy omegaverse mpreg-ish romance that will leave you in stitches. It contains a Grindr hook-up gone very wrong (or very right), giant magical lizards, a pig named Olive, a wank throne, and a HEA, right down to the white picket fence.
REVIEW:
Nate Boudreaux is a studious guy. He’s working on his PhD and he doesn’t have the time or energy for a relationship. He’s got his path and he’s determined. He does, however, need someone to help him through his heat. When he meets up with Alistair Drake – thanks to Grindr – he’s really just interested in a good time.
Alistair is the “poor” youngest brother of his family. He’s the least successful and he doesn’t care. He doesn’t have a mate or a family on his mind. He truly doesn’t worry about such and he’s happy to have his hookups when the urge strikes. Nate is a feisty one! He of course remembers him quite fondly because they did have a VERY good time. They took precautions, but accidents do happen 🙂
When it’s obvious that something has resulted from their one night stand, there are consequences for both Nate and Alistair. Neither of them have a clue that what they’ve done could have dire repercussions on them both. They stand to lose the one thing they didn’t even know they wanted! When the council decides to meet to determine their fate, Alistair’s family comes to their aid and provides the best help and support that they can. Only with this support and assistance and perseverance will they be able to prevail and protect what’s most precious now to them both.
Nate and Alistair’s road is not smooth. Neither of them has been in a relationship before and frankly Alistair’s literal brain drives Nate absolutely bonkers. Hence Nate ends up with Olive the pig as a pet 🙂 Then there is the outrage of some of the rest of the council that leads to attacks on Nate and Alistair in an attempt to separate them from each other and their most beloved. But fear not! There are smart and resourceful allies that help to protect everyone and win the day 😀
Oh my! This story was absolutely fabulous 🙂 I loved everything about it to be honest. These authors are just brilliant – so inventive with this trope that is both modern and ancient at the same time. Nate is hilarious. He’s snarky and spunky and sarcastic and fierce. Alistair is in over his head immediately – but he’s Ok with it. He’s pretty clueless but he just wants to make Nate happy and he endeavors to do so despite being completely surprised by just about everything that happens. Their bickering and bantering kept me in stitches. Nate’s inner dialogue was just so very entertaining. He hasn’t a clue what is going on really either and doesn’t even know how this could have happened, but he will protect his progeny. I loved the whole bunch of Drakes we meet in this book. What a fun family 🙂 I’m LOVING this whole series and can’t wait for more. And really Michael Ferraiuolo’s narration is magic! So perfect. Each of the characters is so distinct and are clearly pictured in my mind’s eye. What a tour de force. I cannot wait for the next book with Harry (Nate’s best friend and room mate) and Everard 🙂 Highly recommended for anyone who loves a good Rom Com with some magic on the side 😉
