Harlow’s celebrity daughter is about to make an announcement that will change his life. The decision? It’s going to send him on a collision course with love.
Former SEAL-turned-bodyguard Harlow isn’t prepared to have love smash face-first into his fist after one of the worst days of his life…or for it arrive in such a cute package.
For seven lonely years following the loss of his husband, he’s been too wrapped up in raising his teenage daughter to think about a relationship, much less with an employee young enough to be his son.
But the sparks he feels when he’s with shy, geeky Simon are starting to change his mind, and when circumstance strands them together under the same roof with just one air mattress between them…well, you know what they say. If a single spark can start a fire, Harlow and Simon are about to set the world ablaze.
The Decision is a contemporary omegaverse romance novel featuring a quirky group of single dads, 18D action, air mattress encounters, and two very different men who find exactly what they need in each other.
REVIEW:
Note: this is book 4 in this series and as such contains major spoilers for the first three book and couples. It is recommended to consume this books in series order 🙂
Simon is an IT guy working as a consultant for a private security firm run by his secret crush boss, Harlow. When it turns out that Harlow’s client is at Simon’s house, there is a HUGE misunderstanding that Harlow takes it out on Simon. Simon for his part has been trying to keep his family together and put himself last for years. We find out the reasons for this later in the story and it’s heartbreaking.
Harlow thinks he has a great relationship with his daughter – and between her and his Single Dad Support Group chat group, he’s pretty happy with his life. But when she pulls this stunt and he’s thrown into chaos, it tears them a bit apart. The bright spot is Simon. They haven’t met in person before but when they do, sparks fly. I don’t want to give away the secrets of the plot, but it’s delicious 🙂
This book was so sweet – but not in a sappy way 🙂 It’s a little bit instalovey, but not really because the MCs have actually “known” each other for several years – they’ve just never met in person before. When they do it starts off with a jolt, but then moves on to something pretty intimate pretty fast. Simon has loved Harlow from afar for years, but when he gets the opportunity to meet him, he doesn’t feel like he’s enough and he can’t get over himself and his perceived obligations in order to do what he needs to in order to be happy. Harlow has been hanging on to his memories of his decease husband and using his daughter as an excuse to not have his own life and make his own path and find his own happiness. Literally having Simon kind of fall into his lap is a wakeup call. As usual the rest of the single dads from the group chat provide background advice and wholehearted support for Harlow to pull his head out of his ass and grab his own happiness. I LOVED that part of the story. As usual Michael Ferraiuolo does a stellar job of narration. There are lots of fun twists and turns in this one and have us revisiting other characters and families from the previous books and it’s all really well executed by one of my favorite narrators. I HEAR that there might be more Single Dads coming in Audio and I hope that’s true. I have really enjoyed this series. Recommended.
