Drawn together for the first time, this is a collection of Lily’s short stories about the much-loved men from her Mixed Messages and Finding Home series. Follow them through awkward marriage proposals, birthdays, a fraught babysitting job, and a very drunken Eurovision Song Contest party.
It includes stories previously written for her website and readers’ group, along with deleted scenes and four brand new and exclusive short stories – Bad Valentine, Marrying Jude, Babysitting Billy, and House Hunting.
REVIEW:
This is a must have for fans of Lily Morton’s Mixed Messages series and the related Finding Home series. The author’s trademark humor and snark are on full display here. Some of the funniest moments of the lives of these men are shared in these lovely little snippets, deleted scenes and short stories around this universe. If you are at all a fan of these series, this is a must have collection of all the post-HEA stories that Lily has generously shared with her readers over the last few years as well as some brand new gems. I’ll touch on those below.
Bad Valentine – This Gabe and Dylan short (although more Gabe and Henry really) takes place just after Gabe’s disastrous attempt to make Dylan leave him. He realizes what he’s done and as he’s contemplating next moves, he calls his best mate Henry. Henry, who knows the truth and knows Gabe, get Gabe to finally admit the truth as well 😉
Marrying Jude – This could not have BEEN more perfect. Jude and Asa’s wedding is such a completed delight! There are many funny and touching moments and there are lots of wonderful cameos of characters from the whole series. And Billy as usual has a starring role 🙂
Babysitting Billy – Dylan is taking care of Billy when he has an emergency and Gabe is the last resort to sit with Billy while he’s gone. Gabe is of course terrified, but he does love Billy. Their day together is hilarious and perfect and sweet 🙂 Might be my favorite of the bunch.
House Hunting – Gideon and Eli are now together can’t keep staying a Cia an Mor, so they are house hunting. The real estate agent is a twat who ignores Eli and sucks up to Gideon. Eli is still worried about their disparate financial status and he’s not happy with looking at huge mansion. But when the agent goes too far, Gideon calls a halt and gets to the heart of the matter. I love these two together and love that Gideon is finally happy.
There are 16 other great little stories in this collection and they are all lovely. Lily Morton is an auto-buy author for me – and these are just more of the reasons why. Highly recommended.
