Vincent’s past threatens to overthrow his future. The solution? He’s about to find it in the storage closet at his friend’s wedding.
All single dad Vincent is expecting from his friend’s wedding is a good time…not an irresistible older omega named Mal who slips into his heart as quickly as he slips into his bed. With a job relocation to the city on the horizon, a relationship isn’t off the table, but there’s a catch.
There’s something about Vincent’s past his prospective lover needs to know – something he’d rather leave behind.
All chronically single Mal wants is to have a family. The solution? Take matters into his own hands….
At fifty years old, Mal has come to accept he’ll never find a partner, but won’t back down from starting a family of his own. Desperate to get pregnant, he enrolls in a clinical trial for a fertility drug with promising results….
….only to find himself under the care of an all too familiar face, Dr. Vincent Rhyne.
The Solution is a 90,000 word contemporary omegaverse MPREG novel featuring a quirky group of single dads, fabulous revenge, an ice-cold shower that’ll have you overheating, and a unique take on love perfect for two men who don’t quite fit the mold.
REVIEW:
Note: This is the third book in this series and as such contains spoilers for the first two books. It can be read as a standalone, but is probably more enjoyable if read in order to gain full understanding of the context for this couple’s story.
At the beginning of this story, Vincent decides to join the rest of the single dads from his Single Dad Support Group chat group at the wedding of one of their members – who will now no longer be a single dad 🙂 But he’s still a dad and they group is excited to be there for him. A friend of the other groom, Mal is another guest at the wedding. He’s an older omega who wants to be a dad so badly now that he’s in a secure place in his life. He’s taken care of a lot of other people’s children over the years, but he yearns for his own. With his IVF treatments, he’s gone into heat unexpected and although he took his blockers, he’s still feeling the effects. When Vincent discovers him, he offers to help him out 🙂
As the wedding party comes to an end, Vincent follows Mal since he really enjoyed his time with him and would love to spend the night with him helping him with his heat 😉 He has given Mal his card, which is more than he ever does with his hook ups. He’s also up front with Mal about his ability to father a child that Mal has shared he really wants. But they head off into the night together and have a great time – although Mal does kind of sneak off before morning.
Fast forward a couple of months and Mal’s latest IVF doesn’t work. His last resort is a trial run by a local pharmaceutical company that he manages to get in. But imagine his surprise when one of the doctors is the alpha he spent the night with after his friends wedding. They both play it cool like they are just meeting. Vincent’s last name is different to what he provided to Mal and there’s a story there, but Mal doesn’t have a clue what it is. When they meet after the visit – totally against protocol and policy – Vincent shares his truth with Mal as to why he can’t father a child even though he already has a daughter it’s something completely unexpected for Mal. But he doesn’t care – he’s comfortable with and attracted to Vincent who seems to be able to give him everything else he needs. And if the trial goes well, then he’ll had a hand in giving him the thing he most desires as well – a child.
Meanwhile, one of the other doctors is suspicious about Mal and Vincent. They both have pretty much everything to lose if their connection is discovered – at least until Vincent’s part of the process is over. Both want to continue to build on their relationship. Vincent introduces his daughter Nicki to Mal. Mal and Nicki take to each other immediately and Vincent couldn’t be more thrilled. For his part, he’s found someone who accepts him – all of him – with the added bonus of caring for his child 🙂 Both Mal and Vincent have found something they both thought to either be elusive or nonexistent in their futures.
I really liked this story in this universe. Mal has been through a lot. But he’s finally in a good place and he wants to share his future with a child – something he thought he’d never get to experience. The fact that Vincent is the one to help him realize that dream is a HUGE bonus. He’s attracted to Vincent and he feels safe with Vincent – as Vincent does with him. Vincent has his own reasons for wanting a fresh start in a new life in a new city with his daughter. I LOVED the way the author explained Vincent’s situation and I adored how Mal reacted to Vincent’s revelation. Just so sweet. I was so happy for Mall to get his own HEA – in all things – particularly after he’d suffered so much in the past. Vincent is such a good guy and really wants to care for Mal and make a life together. They were just perfect together. As usual Michael Ferraiuolo is stellar in his narration. The many and varied voice were spot on for this cast of characters. The Single Dads alone are a challenge, but then add in the secondary characters and its a lot – but he’s up to the task. I really like this little world this author has created. This group of friends is entertaining and supportive and just a lot of fun to watch change and grow over the series. Definitely recommended and I’m on to the next book!
