Parker Wilson has the life he’s always wanted: an apartment in Brighton Pier, amazing family and friends, and a job he loves. With the invitation to his childhood best friend’s engagement party, the safe haven he’s created around himself is soon flooded with memories of the past. The roadblock he’s taken years detouring soon becomes a reality he can no longer avoid. After six years, Parker will have to see Sarah’s brother again—the only man he’s ever truly loved.
After running away from the truth and moving to Boston, Jason Maxwell must finally face Parker again—and the guilt he’s felt for leaving Parker all those years ago. Confronting the man who changed everything Jason thought he knew about himself, Jason realizes the miles he’s put between them hasn’t diminished what Parker means to him. Now, with the undeniable way he feels about Parker, Jason is determined to finally make things right.
Can a second chance finally land Jason and Parker on the path to happiness they’ve waited years for, or will they discover the final destination is actually the end of the
“Two gin and tonics, please.” The bartender turned to make his drinks as Parker took out his wallet, looking through it for a tip. He leaned on the gleaming, mahogany bar, money in hand. All he wanted was to sit down with his drink and get his fucking nerves to stop doing a damn drumroll from the top of his head down to his toes. Nothing like a little liquid courage to get him through the day.
“Hi, Parker.” That deep, familiar voice sent an unwelcome chill down Parker’s spine, radiating through his senses. He swore he felt the rich rumble of it in the center of his chest.
Oh, God. Not now. Not when he hadn’t even downed a couple of drinks. Although, it was too much alcohol that was partially to blame for the best night of his life…followed by the worst day of his life. Looking up slowly into the mirror behind the bar, seeing those blue eyes for the first time in six years…his traitorous heart skipped a beat.
Fucking heart.
There was a significant pause as they stared at one another as unwelcome emotions gathered like a lump in his throat. Parker forced himself to turn away from Jason’s reflection in the mirror and face the living, breathing man. Jesus, had his pulse ever beat so damn hard? There was only one other time he could think of—and it was to blame for the prickly tension in the air right now.
Those irises were still the bluest he’d ever seen, his hair just as golden but slightly longer. Dark circles beneath his eyes marred his otherwise ageless face. Parker cursed himself as his gaze scanned down a navy blue button down and gray pants—damned if they didn’t enhance muscles Jason had packed on to his already athletic build. Really? Where’s the receding hairline? Where’s the beer gut, for fuck’s sake?
“You look good. It’s been a long time,” Jason said, and although his voice sounded convincing, the blush climbing his neck and cheeks accentuated the nervous half-smile plastered on his face.
Parker refused to let that get to him, yet he couldn’t bring himself to respond. He thought he’d outgrown that weakness—and this man. But his goddamn heart was hammering inside his chest and the shrill ringing in his ears intensified. It was all too much to take.
“Please say something,” Jason pleaded, rubbing the back of his neck. His pained stare locked on Parker and another awkward silence lingered. Proof of the miles and miles stretching out between them; the distance highlighting the separate lives they’d each led for years.
The bartender set the drinks down on the bar, and it was the interruption Parker needed to snap the hell out of it. He put the singles down on the shiny, dark wood and picked up the two glasses, ignoring the obvious shaking in his hands. Turning toward Jason, he straightened his back and finally said, “Excuse me. My date is waiting for his drink.” With that, Parker walked around Jason on legs that felt like spaghetti, trying not to trip over his feet as he quickly walked over to his table.
I have been an artist from a very young age. From drawing cartoon characters and evolving into portraits, making jewelry, photography, and now writing. I have an amazing support system in my family and friends and couldn’t be more grateful.
I live in central New Jersey, love summers at the Jersey Shore, rock music, wine, sexy men, and laughing a lot with my amazing friends and family. Sunday dinners at my parents’ house are crazy, hysterical and you can count on a movie quote…or ten…being thrown out. Insults between siblings is how we show our love for each other!
When I’m not creating, you can find me reading books from my favorite authors. I’m a hopeless romantic, starving for passionate characters and always craving that happy ending, whether in reading or in writing my own books.
