Search and Rescue: Book Three
Five months ago boy-band lead singer Cash Harper left Glen Echo in a hospital in Jalisco… and broke his heart.
Glen’s heart is the only home Cash has ever known. He’s spent the past five months trying to find his friend Brielle and make sense of his own instincts. Now he’s ready to be a real partner and lover to Glen—but first they have to finish their original mission.
Glen is ready for Cash to walk through his door needing help, but he is absolutely determined not to let him back into his heart. Men don’t run. Cash did. End of story.
Rescuing Brielle will take the full talents of Glen’s search and rescue company, and that means Cash needs to re-earn the team’s trust. Between Bond-villain traps, snakes that shouldn’t be there, and bad guys with guns, they all have plenty to negotiate. If Cash can prove he can stay the course and that he deserves Glen’s faith, they might survive this op whole and ready to love.
REVIEW:
I was so glad this was Cash and Glen’s story. After the last book, I wanted to shake Cash so bad. Twice he got scared and ran and now he’s got some making up to do as he’s finally found his friend to rescue again and he needs Glen’s help.
When Glen got hurt in the earthquake, it was a scary time. But Glen just wanted to go home with Cash and expand on what they had started. Cash had run on him once before, but he was willing to let that go and try again. But when Glen wakes up in the hospital, Cash is gone again and Glen is devastated. But he knows Cash is still looking for his friend and that cult tha t has set up shop somewhere else. He knows where now and is waiting for Cash to come back asking for help. And he was right. Cash comes back looking thinner and not smelling great, which tells Glen life hasn’t been all sunshine and roses for him either. But Glen is determined to help and to keep his heart to himself. But when Cash says he’s ready to be in for the long haul, Glen can’t help but hope. But he knows Cash will run again. So as they work the rescue, they do all they can to save the kids from these monsters. But Cash has to prove during all this that to Glen, he’s serious. And if they can survive what they are about to do, maybe Glen can see that Cash is serious this time and give them another chance.
I’m not going to lie. I wanted to shake the crap out of Cash in book 2. I understand being scared, but when he left Glen in the hospital, for me that was too low a blow. Breaking up or running another time would have been something, but leaving a man who cared for you and protected you during said earthquake…..and then leave them? Uh uh. That’s a no no. So I didn’t blame Glen a bit for being aloof, despite wanting to do nothing but hold and hug him. I don’t blame Preston and the rest of the guys for being mad at him as Glen not only had to heal physical wounds, but emotional ones as well. But, I had to hand it to Cash this time. He took everything everyone dished out at him. Especially Glen. He knew he had it coming and that he had to overcome his fears, even when hurt by what was said, and prove he meant what he said. And that’s not an easy thing to do. No one really wants to admit they’re wrong, especially when they know the amount of groveling it’s going to entail. But Cash impressed me and I was happy to see that he went beyond the call of duty to show he was not only serious but ready to be a part of all of Glen’s life. In any way possible.
Life is never easy when your past keeps coming back to haunt you. Or when you’re in the spotlight or have parents that never seemed to care. Everything affects us all at some point in our lives. It could be the smallest thing to set us off or something huge. But either way, it’s baggage that comes with a relationship. While Cash was ‘on the run’, he got a chance to work out some things he had to and because of it, he learned to reprioritize things in his life. Learn what was important and what not to hang on to. And all he knew was Glen was the one he wanted.
