Why can’t Shay remember when his nemesis became his lover?
Shay would never associate with Josiah. Not only is he his brother’s ex-best friend, but he’s arrogant, cocky, and rude.
When Josiah claims they’re dating and that Shay forgave him for his past transgressions, Shay is convinced he’s lying.
Except, since the accident that left him with no memory, Shay isn’t sure of anything.
The last six months are a black hole in his mind. What’s worse, Shay is convinced that whatever happened to him wasn’t an accident at all. But the only person who believes him is Josiah.
Perhaps together, they can figure out the truth. Maybe retracing their steps will shake loose those missing pieces.
Can Shay put trust in the man he swore to hate? Will regaining those memories be good or bad? What if the truth was written on his heart the whole time?
Forgetful Hearts is a low angst MM romance novel with amnesia, age gap, enemies-to-lovers, and brother’s ex-best friend tropes. It is part of the Hometown Jasper Series but can be read as a standalone.
REVIEW:
It is fair to say I struggled a bit with this book especially compared to the first two books in this amazing series.
Where I love the enemies-to-lovers trope etc, I found while I was reading that I struggled a bit with the amnesia part.
As always the book is wonderfully written. It has everything you want in a good story and keeps you entertained during the whole book.
You don’t expect to instantly like Josiah if you read the first two books, but I have to say he immediately slipped into my heart. There is just something about him, as they say.
Shay and Josiah are both great men and they own have their little things going on. What happened with me though. was that I was extremely fascinated with Tomi and his story. What is going on there? What is it with him and someone else appearing in this book.
So instead of the main focus being on Josiah and Shay it kind of drifted for no obvious reason.
Josiah is a wonderful mystery, figuring out where he comes from and what made him into the person he is today. Shay is like a brat at times and has his own charm.
It is fascinating to see how Shay is figuring out what to make of this vague emotions and feelings that are just out of his grasp. But as they say the heart never forgets.
I really liked their struggle as they find their way back to each other. The stubbornness but also the calmness and devotion from Josiah, strongly believing in what had to become.
There is a little bit of angst in this one but it takes a backseat to the overall story.
The humor author Nicky James brought in especially between Josiah and Shay but also between Josiah and his co worker was brilliant. I was laughing out loud at times.
I have to say I know it is a standalone story but I would have loved to have seen a bit more of the characters out of the first two books. I was glad we got a snippets of how Lucky and Knox are doing.
Overall I can say this was a good addition to the series, a recommended read especially if you read the first two books to get the whole series and hometown Jasper feel.
And more then that I am extremely excited for the next book in this series!
