When a routine job in The Congo leads Castello to the side of himself he had suppressed for a lifetime, will he find the courage to acknowledge it and to claim the mechanic making him forget every rule he had put in place under Don’t Ask Don’t Tell so long ago?
Axel Shaw keeps his head down and his mouth shut. He has spent his life building bikes. He couldn’t care less about drugs on the streets and all that jazz. He is more concerned where his sister and her kid are. Chasing a lead takes him to a country that he never should have been in and his ass in more trouble than he’d ever managed to find before. He takes the rescue Castello and his team offer and he’s grateful for it. But now he has another problem. He really should not be figuring out how fast he can get the sexy assed ex-Delta Operator in his bed… right?
Missions are never easy, and this one is turning more personal by the second. Castello now has more on the line than he has ever had before, and his heart makes him question if his Salvation can really be a Sinner?
REVIEW:
We have been regaled with The Team Panther and Tags of Honor series from Ms. Annabella Stone, and now we have the latest spin-off from The Team Panther, Task Force Ambra and this is book 1.
I think I have mentioned before that these kinds of stories are my favorite tropes. This series will involve some of the characters we have met in the Team Panther series although they were secondary characters there. Task Force Ambra’s main mission is to capture and retrieve former military personnel working with militant and terrorist groups across the globe. It is led by Castello Moran, former Commander of Delta Force Team Lynx who in turn have worked in several missions with Delta Force Team Panther.
Now, they have been assigned to retrieve one former Private Second-Class Gavin Kony. When Gavin Kony failed to re-up after his four years in the Military, it was found out that he is now an enforcer of the Diamond Mob whose base is in Florida. ATF has requested the help of the military to retrieve him when he flew out of the country. Brendan Givens, head of the Diamond Mob has task Kony to buy diamonds which in turn will be used to buy drugs to be distributed in US soil, specifically throughout Florida. Thus, the reason why they are currently in the Congo because after his flight to Europe, Kony took a connecting flight to the Congo.
What his team didn’t expect was to find one Axel Shaw being beaten by the same guys they were looking at to capture Gavin Kony. Upon deeper investigation, they found out that Axel Shaw is a member of Hell’s Angels MC wherein their friend and fellow soldier Griffin St. Clare is also a patched-in member. When it was confirmed that Grif did know Axel and they were given a direct command to get Axel out of there, they proceeded to do just that. Axel didn’t know who the guys are who came to save him, but when things got straightened out, Task Force Ambra went on a second mission and this time to retrieve Kony, their original mission.
Axel has been looking for his sister and nephew for a few years already. He couldn’t continuously look for them because he needs to earn money every now and then to support all the travelling he needs to do to find his family. He was going to confront Kony that’s why he followed him to the Congo. What he didn’t count on was being rescued by a team of soldiers from being beaten and captured by the same men Kony was meeting.
What follows are events that will allow Axel to witness the capture of Kony by one of the deadliest and most elite forces in the world. The same group of men, together with Team Panther, who will help him rescue his sister and his nephews from one of the merciless cartels in Mexico led by El Mencho. This book will also clue us in on what Task Force Ambra is capable of and what Team Panther contributes as they wait for their own contracts to push through. We will get reacquainted with the Panther guys and meet new ones.
I have been looking forward to this spin-off series and I am so excited that it is finally here. I was a little surprised by the way the point of views were presented although I shouldn’t have been. There were times when I was confused as to who was saying what, but as I slowly got immersed in the story, I got back my footing. These guys are tough, eager and willing to risk their lives to protect their family. I love them! I am eagerly waiting for the next book.
