I’m not in the market for a Daddy.
Famous last words, right?
I wasn’t in the market to get kidnapped either. Lucky for me, a burly, beautiful man decided he was going to rescue me and take care of me whether I liked it or not. Well, I did like it. Maybe too much and even though I’m safe now, he still wants to take care of me.
Did I mention he’s a member of the Iron Heretics MC? Turns out to be a good thing because my past is about to catch up with me and there’s no way I’d survive disarming that threat alone.
Disarm is the second book in the Iron Heretics MC series. The series is best read in order.
REVIEW:
Trigger warnings: abuse, beatings, torture, PTSD, etc
I’m really enjoying this series so much, and while the Daddy kink may not be one of my favorites, I have to agree that for Leith, it’s everything he needed. It may have taken some rough stuff to get where he needed to be, but it’s put him in the path of what he needs.
Leith didn’t have a great time growing up. As soon as he could leave, he ran as far as he could. Trying to make friends in a new place and get to know people, he got mixed up in a club and found a ‘daddy’. It was everything Leith ever wanted. Until the rose colored glasses came off, then it was nothing but horror. And once again, Leith finds himself on the run. He finds another place to settle down, but not getting too close to anyone until Pax kind of inserts himself in Leith’s life. But even though he adores Pax, he still can’t let his guard down. Not even around the one man he wishes he really could call Daddy. Axel. But he doesn’t have the nerve to ask Axel to stay and it ends up costing him a lot. Kidnapped and tortured, Leith just wants to die, but Axel finds him in time. But even though they may have taken care of this threat, there’s more from his past coming and Leith thinks it may be time to run again. But can he make it on his own, or can he finally trust someone and let Axel in and be all that he wants to be for this man?
With just the little bit in his past that Leith has had to go through, I could understand why he’s anxious to run. And meeting the ‘daddy’ that abused him, I don’t blame him for running again and not trusting a soul. And that’s what I love about Axel. He’s a true Daddy. He knows how to take care of someone and to be patient. It’s not easy. He gets angry, not at Leith, but the situation and he has to remember to remain calm around Leith. It’s not easy when every instinct in him wants to take this young man as his own and call him boy. It’s not easy being patient when all he wants to do is bend him over the nearest surface, but Axel knows what it’s like to be abused himself and he would never become the man he was raised with. He knows how to fight his baser instincts. He knows how to be soft and sweet and patient, and when to be a little forceful to get through the fears and stubbornness. He’s everything Leith ever needed or wanted in someone and I’m glad he got to be with him. It takes time to get over a trauma and to trust, but when it comes, it’s the most beautiful thing. Because Axel knows he earned it. He knows how hard it was for that guard to drop and because of it, he got to see Leith blossom back into the sassy sweet boy he wanted.
These guys know what pain is. They go through a lot to get to where they are. They often leave bad homes and run and end up in even worse situations, but sometimes there’s some really good people out there who take people under their wings and show them what it’s like to have someone to lean on and trust. And I love that these two got to find each other.
