Remembering the dead will always give them life.
The coveted Morrígan’s staff is up for sale on the black market to the highest bidder, and SOA Special Agent Patrick Collins will do whatever it takes to ensure the Dominion Sect doesn’t get their hands on it. Returning the weapon to its rightful owner is another step on the long road toward clearing Patrick’s soul debt, but he won’t walk it alone. Jonothon de Vere won’t let him.
Obeying the gods means Patrick must travel to London. For Jono, it means facing a past he thought he’d left behind forever. His return to England isn’t welcome, and neither is their pack, but Jono and Patrick will face the antagonism together. Politics aside, their priority must be the mission, but the bone-chilling secret they uncover in the London god pack will have far-reaching repercussions no one can ignore.
A race against time takes Patrick and Jono from the streets of London to the bright lights of Paris, where hospitality is thin on the ground, the air is filled with whispered prayers for the missing, and the Morrígan’s staff will end up in the one place it should never have gone—a graveyard.
For beneath Paris lie the long-forgotten dead, and when they rise to walk again, the living can only hope to die.
On the Wings of War is a 109k word m/m urban fantasy with a gay romantic subplot and a HFN ending. It is a direct sequel to A Vigil in the Mourning. Reading the first book in the series would be helpful in enjoying this one.
REVIEW:
I have loved every single book in this series. Every book has been such a journey into the unknown and such an adventure, whether good or bad. And in the case of Jono and Pat, mostly bad. For the beings they deal, don’t make things easy. But this one is going to be an even bigger challenge and it was intense!
Patrick has been invited to a secret meeting by certain government people. He thinks it’s because of all the damage from trying to protect the world from the Dominion sect, who are determined to get a god for nefarious reasons. But little does he know, his world is going to change again. Because in order to find the staff he had to let go of, he now has to travel to London to go get it, and the things he has to do in order to make it happen are going to be hard. Egos, unfortunately, have a way of showing up at the wrong time. And not only that, but they have to go back to Jono’s home, where he’s been exiled from, and it’s going to be tricky for him to stay alive and do what they need to do. But just when they think things couldn’t get too much worse, boy, were they wrong. Where this auction is going to be held is bad enough, but where the staff ends up is even worse. And they have to pull together every resource they have in order to save things again, while praying their home in the States doesn’t come under attack while they’re gone.
I love watching how Jono and Pat work together. I love their whole pack. Because it’s a true pack. It doesn’t matter if they are human or whatever, they are accepted because that’s where they belong. But I am not going to lie, these boys just can’t catch a break. Lol. Everyone wants a piece of them in one way or another, but I love the passion they have in fighting for what is right. No matter how hard it may be and what it takes out of them. They know they have to make this world a safe place, and get rid of the ones trying to make things they have no business making. But, we all know what greed and power can do to someone’s mind. But one thing I have to say as well, it’s been amazing to see how much everyone has grown. Even Wade. Yeah, he’s still a big kid, who’s more worried about his ever hungry gut, but when it comes down to it, he’s there for everyone no matter the cost. Just like the rest of the pack. They may all be nervous about new roles to fill, or how things may turn out, but they know that in the end, they are in a true pack and they all fight for what is right and what is home.
It’s another amazing story. It really is another intense one. There’s so much I want to say about it, but I can’t give it away. Just know that this series is one of the best I’ve read and I love the fact that I’ve gotten to be a part of this world. I hope it keeps on for a while. The HFN isn’t quite good enough lol. I want the whole HEA.
