Tattoos, fixing cars, and his saxophone.
Those are the only things Stellan Abernathy cares about—being the tattooed auto mechanic by day and then the sultry saxophone player in a jazz band by night. But all that changes when a wide-eyed bartender captures his attention and refuses to let go. Now, instead of an audience, Stellan only wants to play for—and with—Foster.
Coming home, starting over, and getting back on his feet.
After a break-up that leaves Foster Morgan feeling more relieved than hurt, he returns home with an empty bank account and a new job. Getting his life back on track is his main priority, but fate has put pure temptation in his path. The only problem? Foster had never been with a man before. Now, he wants Stellan to change that.
Play with me is a high-heat, low-angst, bisexual awakening story filled with adult situations. It’s intended for an audience of eighteen years or older.
REVIEW:
Stellan is a mechanic by day and sax player by night. He plays at a bar called Clancy’s with his group the Messengers. He loves both his jobs and he’s pretty happy with his life. The he meets the new bartender at Clancy’s and he’s smitten. Seems like maybe the guy is too, but he’s a bit shy at first. But in a rather serendipitous way, he gets closer to the guy and they see each other outside of the bar.
Foster takes a job tending bar after returning home broke and jobless after a failed engagement. The sad thing is he isn’t sorry about the engagement being over. He’s intrigued by the sax player of the jazz ensemble at his new gig bartending at Clancy’s and he’s not sure what to do about it. But then Stellan does him a solid and they get closer.
At first Foster is nervous about his attraction. But honestly it’s not the first time he’s been attracted to a guy – just the first time he’x willing to do anything about it. Stellan is wildly attracted, but when Foster confesses that he’s never been with a guy before, that gives him pause. Seems he’s had experience with formerly straight guys again – and it did not go well. He attempts to slow things down at first, but Foster presses his case that this is indeed what he wants. And Stellan insists that Foster be honest in his desires. There are a few minor misunderstandings, but they resolve them fairly easily and it’s all systems go.
Foster is a bit surprised by the strength of his desire for Stellan, but he finally feels like maybe this is right where he belongs. His relationship with Jennifer, his former fiance never felt this passionate or comfortable to him. But he’s got a lot to think about as well, like coming out to his family and figuring out what his future will look like if he decides to pursue this with Stellan.
Stellan is thrilled that Foster seems to get over his trepidation pretty quickly. Their physical relationship is on fire and they can’t get enough of each other. Despite his decision to take things slowly, he can’t seem to keep his hands off Foster and the feeling is mutual 🙂
Of course things can’t go completely smoothly. Despite a pretty smooth start and the friends and family being supportive and Foster getting some insight into himself, there are a few bumps and blasts from the past. Working through past disappointments and relationship issues, helps both men to move on and figure out the future.
I enjoyed this story! I think this is the first book I’ve read from this author and I like the writing style. I appreciated that there wasn’t a lot of angst or self-recrimination in this story. Foster is finally coming into his own – kind of a surprise after his previous relationship. He’s now on the right track and he’s not embarrassed about it! Stellan is a bit more worried about Foster and also is carrying some baggage from a previous bad breakup. But the support characters are great and help both men see things more clearly. It’s just a really sweet story of a guy figuring himself out now that he’s found the right person. Recommended for fans of out for you stories with minimal angst.
