Antiques and ammunition do not mix well.
The antique trade is not known for its life or death excitement and Landry Carran is happy that he has to contend only with furniture polish, woodworm and his irascible boss. He gets all the thrills he needs at his favorite BDSM club, Scorch.
Detective Gage Roskam is hunting stolen jewels taken from a Tokyo exhibition then shipped to Seattle. Mired in a deadly race involving the Yakuza, an enigmatic Englishman and too many indecipherable clues, he doesn’t have time to indulge in Dominant fantasies.
When their worlds collide, neither Landry nor Gage expects things to get quite as complicated—or dangerous—as they do. When Landry steps into the path of some powerful, ruthless people, it’s up to Gage to protect him. Along the way they might just discover what they both need.
REVIEW:
“So you’re telling me you accept bribes?” “Absolutely. So long as they involve chocolate. Or coffee. Preferably both and in large quantities.” “I’ll be five minutes. Don’t go anywhere.” “Perhaps you should cuff me, Officer.” Landry blinked. “It’s Detective, and don’t tempt me.”
Well, if this is how this series is going to start, I’m definitely ready for the next books in it. Yes, it’s a romance and it is BDSM, if that’s a problem for anyone, but it’s also a mystery. And the twists and turns in it were awesome. No one saw what ended up coming.
Landry loves working for Treasure Troves. Mr. Lao, the owner, is fixing to leave him with something he’s never done before. Control of the shop. But with that control comes something he’s not prepared for. A cop that’s a Dom and pushes all his buttons, and the Yakuza doing everything to kidnap or kill him for something he doesn’t think he has. What Landry doesn’t realize is Gage may have come in to work on a case, but he’s not kidding when he wants Landry for his own. But first they have to get out of this mess alive and figure out who’s behind it all. Because Gage has discovered this cheeky brat is everything he’s wanted in a sub and he wants a chance to see where it’s all going to go.
I’m telling you, the first few pages of this book had me cracking up so bad. Landry is the perfect bratty sub and Gage knows it right off the bat. And has NO problem whatsoever in calling Landry on his crap. And it’s the funniest thing ever. But Gage realizes the more he gets to know Landry, he honestly wouldn’t have it any other way. Because Landry keeps him on his toes and makes him so happy. He wouldn’t want someone meek and quiet. He needs a sub that is feisty and fun and makes his life happy. Especially with his job. His job wears him down so bad. Especially this new case. And finding out that his new man and this case are coinciding are doing bad things to his stomach. He’s terrified for Landry, knowing he can’t be in two places at once but he knows Landry needs protecting. It’s interesting to see the dynamic between them.
But there’s more than just these two to keep the fun going. Gage’s partner on the force, is a force to be reckoned with all on her own and I was laughing my butt off all through this book at these guys.
This book has so many different things to it. Mystery, intrigue, attempted murder and kidnapping. Romance, BDSM, and so much more. It’s a great start to this series and one I want to read over and over again.
