Cowboys don’t cry.
West of the Pecos, if a man shows a vulnerable side, his last glimpse of this life might be at the end of a barrel.
Cowboy and drifter, Myron Poste shrouds his life in mystery, carefully following a strict code to stay alive. Fellow ranch hand Cade Buchanan is big, hairy, and strong—not the sort of man to trifle with.
One fateful night while driving a herd of Longhorns north to Santa Fe, Cade confronts Myron. With the swiftness of a West Texas wind, desire seizes control and a passionate affair begins. Pride has always held Myron back, but he can no longer deny his submissive nature when Cade gives him just what he craves—pure, lustful dominance.
When the drive ends, they must part ways. Will the memories of their untamed passion under the big Texas sky be powerful enough to reunite them?
REVIEW:
This book just flew by for me, I was so charmed by Myron. I simply adored him. He was a man of his times, with dreams that didn’t belong then. He struggled with each new discovery about himself, but eventually learned to accept them as part of who he really was. Just like his need to submit: he fought it at first, but then just embraced and became comfortable with his desires.
His feelings for Cade and subsequently, their relationship, were amazingly portrayed. So much sexual charge and at the same time, a lot of tender love. It was interesting how the author integrated their D/S dynamic in their era. Of course, information back then wasn’t a mouse click away, so they had to learn by talking to each other, discussing things through.
From the beginning of the book to the end, Myron and Cade transformed, growing as individuals and as lovers. And, while their chemistry was off the charts hot, what I appreciated the most were the sweet touches, their moments of tenderness and awe with having found acceptance and love in each other’s arms.
I loved almost everything about this story and I hope that, as promised, the author will publish soon the next one in the series. I recommend it to all lovers of well written historical romance.
