REVIEW:
I can’t wait for books 2 & 3 now. This was one heck of a start to this series. An interesting set of events that does lead to a slight cliffhanger, that I don’t care for, but the rest of the book makes it worth it.
In the world Felix and Ryder live in, it’s a hard thing. Dark magic seems to be accepted and revered. While witches like Felix and non humans like Ryder, live in fear every day for their lives. Hunters take great pleasure in torturing and killing some and making life for those not like them miserable. But things take an even darker turn, when somehow, something slips past the wards of the assassin’s guild and gets Ryder to take a blood oath on a hit. Either he kills the target or becomes dead himself. And Felix is not about to let him take that on himself. He oaths himself to Ryder, because being his love and lover, what other choice does he have. But there’s another lover in Felix’s life. Felix is poly and Ryder’s life is about to change even more when he meets Felix’s other love, Luka. These three along with a few others do all they can to help Ryder. If not because they are friends, but also because the target represents something from all their pasts that have left them hurting and in grief. But they know they have to do. What they didn’t expect was when they accomplished what they set out, another player came into the mix and it’s a nightmare on who and if they all make it out alive.
I love this story. This is definitely one heck of a paranormal story. It’s got everything you would want in one. Good vs. evil. Suspense, mystery, and so much more. I love how everyone seems to come together for a common goal. I hate that their stories have led them to where they are, because they are not happy ones, but they’ve learned to channel things into something worth fighting for. And boy do they. They consider the bonds they have, the crime against everything they are, and they are in to fight for all they are. They can’t let it go. But when the true being comes into view, it’s them relying on each other even more that makes this even better. Considering some don’t even know each other and others are learning things are about to get much different. I just love how the twists and turns of the story are. You never quite know what’s coming and when but when it does, it’s amazing how it works. It doesn’t mean it’s easy or that there isn’t heartache, but they keep surviving and moving forward.
I’m ready for the next ones. This is going to be a good series.
