Jax is an omega, Hugo is human, and their love is forbidden. They’ve spent the last seven years on the streets, relying on no one but each other.
When they collide with Dominic, they realise something has always been missing. Jax is keen to get to know the alpha, but Hugo resists the mate-call, worrying that, as a human, there will be no room for him.
The only way they can be free to love each other is to escape the UK, but will Dominic leave his life behind to find home with two younger men?
Run Free is an alternate universe MMM shifter novel, with fated mates, knotting, mpreg, an age-gap relationship, and a happy ending.
REVIEW:
As hard as this story was to read at times, it’s such a good one. It was hard because my heart broke for two of the MCs. Having to live on the streets, wondering if they’d survive, all because one parent was abusive and more so when he found out he had a shifter for a son, and the other when his parents found out their son’s friend was the shifter. And it broke my heart for them.
Jax and Hugo being on the streets and on the run for seven years was really getting so weary, but they had no other choice. They had no other way to survive. It wasn’t until they literally ran into an alpha, while running from a shop clerk for stealing, that they realized that life might be different. But until then, Hugo did all he could to protect and care for Jax. During his heats and everything, even knowing he wasn’t enough because he was human. It wasn’t until he was getting beaten for stealing some of the drug money he was delivering that Jax had turned and the threat became even worse. Thankfully the shop where they were getting beaten was a part of a network to save shifters and humans and help them be free. And it was during this, they found their alpha again. But things aren’t as easy as they wished. Dominic had a life here, and Jax and Hugo only had each other for so long. How would they all fit together and who would be left out? Could they make it even work, because Dominic might now want to give up the life he has for his mates, despite the call.
Jax and Hugo broke my heart so bad. And it really hurt me even more at times, when it hit Dominic how hard they really had it, when he had been living the life. Not that he’s extremely wealthy or anything, but he had a job, a home and food to eat. A warm bed to sleep in. Friends and so much more. And it killed him to know that his two mates had to endure so much because of crappy parents. Killed me too. It broke me as a parent that anyone could do that to their child. But for Dominic, as much as it would kill him to miss his friend and the kids, he knew in his heart he had to be with his mates. To protect them and show them what love, support and so much meant. Including freedom. But it wasn’t easy for any of them. The journey was long and arduous. But it gave them time to get to know each other and to find out how well they worked together. How well they fit. Time to get past insecurities and fears and doubts they all had. Jax, as an omega, he was happy as long as the other two were happy. But with Hugo being human, and Dominic being an alpha, those two wondered where they’d fit with each other and it broke my heart all over again that they would be in tears over being afraid of losing any part of them.
It ended up working. The story does have an HEA. But it doesn’t mean the journey is easy. It takes a lot to make a relationship work on normal levels. Add the turmoil and all the danger they were going through, it made things that much worse. But love and persistence prevailed. And that’s what counted.
