REVIEW:
Jared doesn’t like shifters. Like at all. He’s had a bad experience and he has no interest in repeating it. When he meets Nathan, he’s attracted – but they he realizes he’s a shifter and he just wants him to go away.
Nathan is a cocky shifter and soon after meeting Jared, he’s called away on an emergency. The emergency results in a fight with rogue shifters and when Nathan has to chase down the enemy, he comes across who he assumes is the rogue. He smells the rogue’s scent and he ends up biting the guy. And big Oops! Turns out it’s Jared who has been scent marked by the rogue.
In a panic, Nathan realizes he’s now risked both his and Jared’s life with an unauthorized bite of a human. Jared is super pissed off at first. He’s worried that he’ll turn into what he most does not want – a shifter! But Nathan convinces him to wait it out and hopefully they will be able to make it to the full moon to see if the bite takes. If it doesn’t, no harm no foul. If it does, they have a chance at getting out with their lives intact and can go on their merry way.
However, there are complications from this little bite. And Jared and Nathan can’t stay away from each other. There are also complications from Jared’s best friend, the rogue packs trying to sow discontent between London packs and with certain individuals in a rival turned reluctant ally pack. Nathan’s alpha and his beta and team have their backs though 🙂
As things get more tense, and there is a showdown with the rogue pack, timing couldn’t be worse because the full moon approaches. Jared needs to be there for Nathan and then Nathan needs to be there for Jared. It’s a crazy time that will either lead to a future together and whether they are willing to fight for it.
I remember when I read this several years ago, I really liked it. The audio was definitely worth the revisit to this story. Jared and Nathan go from attracted enemies to lovers – much to their surprise 🙂 Jared and Nathan are very entertaining – they like to pick at each other a bit. After a very difficult start, their relationship starts to change. They are super hot together and they are both surprised by the way they work together and how much they really like each other 🙂 There are quite a few unexpected twists in the story and I really liked the world the author has created. Antony Ferguson is a new narrator to me. I had to get used to the British pronunciation of Beta (Bee-ta in British English), but after that it was all good. I can’t wait for the rest of the audios to come out! Recommended 🙂
