Love is multiplied, never divided.
Liam
I was kicked out at 16 for being transgender, but it turned out to be one of the best things to ever happen to me. At 21, I have a fantastic new family made up of my brother and a handful of wonderful friends, I own my own photography business, and I’m happier than I imagined possible. There’s just one thing missing…. Okay, maybe two….
Wyatt
When I took the position volunteering as a therapist at Rainbow House, I knew I’d found my place in the world: helping teens who had been rejected by their families. What I didn’t expect was the friendship I formed with Liam or how it would grow over the years into a crush I just couldn’t shake. I’m happy to see him finally opening himself up to dating with someone he trusts like Owen. But when he comes to me and asks if I can help his boyfriend, I feel like there’s more to the request than just a few therapy sessions. The more I get to know Owen, the more I like him, too.
Owen
I’m not sure why I believe so much in fate when she’s dealt me nothing but crappy hands – a stint in prison and enough childhood horrors to fuel all my adult nightmares. But I still hold on to the idea that everything happens for a reason. What I can’t figure out is why fate would plop me naked into Liam’s bed under the pretext of helping him with a photo series for a gallery showing. Or why my stomach goes funny every time he smiles at me. Liam is too sweet to be exposed to my demons, but I don’t know how to protect him…. Maybe that’s why fate gave us Wyatt.
REVIEW:
In this combined collection of Heathen’s Ink 3-6, we are lucky to have the short novellas included so we have the background stories especially that of Liam, from the time he was kicked out by his father, to finding his half-brother Royal. We also read about him finishing high school and moving into an apartment with his best friend, Kyle. And all this time, Owen, a co-tattoo Artist of his brother, has been prominent and at the center in Liam’s mind and heart. He knew from early on that he wants Owen, but the guy kept calling him “kid,” because honestly that was what he was at that time, just 16 years old. Liam vowed to himself that he will make Owen see that they belong together. And then through the Rainbow House, where he and the guys volunteer, Liam meets Wyatt. Wyatt also volunteers as a Therapist at RH, he is beautiful, smart and sweet!
Royal, Liam’s half-brother, is in a Polyamorous relationship with Zade and Nash, and they look perfect! Liam wants that, he wants the same type of relationship as his brother. And he wants Owen and Wyatt to be that for him. He just has to make them see that they belong together. Owen has been his crush for forever, and when he met Wyatt three years ago, what started as friendship has developed into a big crush as well. Wyatt has the nerd look that is just so sweet! They have become really good friends.
Liam is now 21 years old and is transgender. He has an Art degree, he has his own apartment and a small but lucrative photography business. He has his brother and friends who he considers family. He is happy, but he still doesn’t have Owen and Wyatt in his life the way he dreams them to be. His dream relationship is still unattainable. Because he is finally of age, legal that is, he has decided to make Owen see he is not a kid anymore. Friends are trying to set him up on dates, and one with Wyatt.
So he has his work cut out for him.
A story of acceptance and belonging to a chosen family. A story of being cast out by your biological family and instead finding a group of people who has accepted you for just being you! A story of knowing what you want and working towards achieving it. Determination, support and willingness to do the hard work are requisites in order to achieve that.
This novel shows us that ultimately we are the ones who know what will make us happy and we just go for it, surrounded by love and support.
