It’s a world gone mad. The Alphas are out of control.
When you discover you’re not who you thought you were, the nightmare begins.
KRIS
At age eighteen, life as he knows it is over for Kris. A secret to his nature he was not aware of has been revealed.
Now, kept as a prisoner in a locked room in the mansion of his wealthy father, Kris is at the mercy of Alpha laws and Alpha domination.
Things take a turn for the worse when his own litter mate threatens him, and his father starts behaving strangely around him.
Escape is his only hope. But where can he go in a world that allows him no rights?
THORNE
Marked as a dangerous Alpha, and living a secluded life alone and unloved, Thorne still grieves for the mate whose death he feels responsible for.
Years have passed, and he refuses to even try to function in normal society.
One day he discovers a young man on his property, disheveled, desperate, and scared. He acts like a runaway Omega, but he doesn’t smell like one.
What is this boy? And why does Thorne feel an immediate need to protect him? To bond him? To make him his?
A non-shifter, Omegaverse love story of rescue, first time, fertility issues and an HEA. Standalone read. 65,500 words. (While Omegas are birth-fathers in this universe, there is no on-page mpreg in this book.)
REVIEW:
Ok, first and foremost, this story deals with attempted rape, abuse of a race, neglect, abuse period, and so much more. Omegas in this story are treated as breeders and that’s it. And in an all alpha household, one alpha son is about to get the surprise of his life.
Kris was ‘the leader’ of his litter mates. Considered to be the golden boy of the alphas. Until one day, a few days before their 18th birthday, it was time for their routine 6 month checkup. And Kris got the shock of his life. And it went downhill from there. When something almost happened to him, he knew he had to run, because it was about to happen again. Thorne was used to being alone after accidentally killing his mate. When he finds Kris curled in his shed, a need filled him to take care of this young man he was used to seeing in the window of that mausoleum of a home, looking so sad. When Thorne finds out the truth of everything, he vows to himself, no one will ever hurt Kris again. But Thorne is terrified he won’t be able to keep his promise if his burn comes on. Especially with the scents rolling off Kris. But can Kris help him get past his nightmare or will Thorne break his vow?
This is really a hard one for those who may have triggers. Kris is almost raped by someone he never thought possible and then again by someone else he never thought possible. So be careful if it’s a trigger. But it’s another book that shows how resilient even those presenting omega but smelling like alpha can be. Kris is an anomaly. And one that should be cherished. Like anyone honestly. Omegas should be cherished. Taken care of. And it isn’t until Kris gets his own diagnosis, that he realizes how wrong alphas really do treat omegas. And how wrong this society is. And although I hate what he’s had to go through, I’m glad that he’s gotten to see how things really are and maybe down the road he can start making changes. Show that how omegas and others are wrongfully treated. And I love that Thorne is so the opposite of what he thinks of himself. And how Kris shows Thorne he’s wrong about himself as well. They’re good for each other. Thorne helps Kris accept who he is and loves him for it regardless, and Kris shows Thorne he’s not the man he thought he was. And even in the face of adversity, they stick together. It may take a little time. But they stick by each other’s sides and face the world together.
