BLURB:
Hacker Leotrim Nicolosi and Deputy Marshal Rich Cody may have escaped a vengeful crime boss by the skin of their teeth, but they’re not out of danger yet. With the mob’s tentacles embedded in everything from local law enforcement to federal agencies, the guys are running low on allies.
Rich has one ace up his sleeve—the men who had his back in warzones during his time in the Marines. When he sends out a distress call, the cavalry comes running. Heavily armed, highly trained, and fully provisioned, they hunker down in a buddy’s missile silo, ready to make a stand against whatever the Grimaldi family sends after Rich and Leo.
Leo isn’t so sure about the Marines, though. He trusts Rich, but something isn’t right, and he’s not a gambling man when his life is on the line. The Marines aren’t so sure they trust him, either, and Rich suddenly finds himself in a standoff between the men he’s bled with and the man he’s quickly falling for.
Now they’re running out of time to either find the turncoat among them or get on the same side.
Because the Grimaldi family is coming, and this time they’re bringing out the big guns.
REVIEW:
Leo and Rich are on the run. After some very harrowing adventures in the first book, they are having to hide from everyone. Rich is a deputy marshal that’s been assigned to protect Leo, a witness to his ex’s mob family activities. As things head south, both aren’t sure who to trust. Turning to his Marine friends, Rich hopes that they can find sanctuary and pull together his brothers in arm to help out, but things might not be as easy as they hoped.
This is quite a fun ride and the budding couple try to get through life until a mob trial. There’s a pretty extensive background given from the actions in the first book, so you can read this as stand alone and still get what is happening. Rich is just trying to stay strong and stalwart in protecting Leo, who is slowing working away on the ice of Rich’s heart. His military friends come to the rescue and they’re an interesting lot themselves. There’s some humor that comes from Leo, but he’s not always the brightest light bulb and at one point, I’m yelling at the book for his actions. So, if you get that emotionally wrapped up in a book, you know it’s a good one.
The book has a nice balance of mystery, adventure, authority figures, military, and mobsters. It’s a fun romp to take your mind off the world for a bit.
