Beltran Varik believes in science.
It holds all the answers he seeks.
Except for one.
How in the world did he end up falling in love with two werewolves?
Of course, there was no way science could account for the beauty, warmth, and mind-blowing sexiness of Wyatt and River.
The two shifters are outcasts from their own kind and must seek the protection of a vampire.
Bel might take them in out of a need to keep them safe, but his feelings for them grow into something so much deeper.
Unfortunately, Bel might have to choose between his wolves and his family as a fight brews with the local werewolf pack and the Variks face a darker threat from the Ministry.
REVIEW:
If you have been following this series, this is its third book. The first book is Claiming Marcus. The second book is Saving Rafe. This series focuses on brothers Marcus, Rafe, Bel and Winter, who are all vampires. They made a unanimous decision to become vampires in order to take care of their mother who was already sick even before she was turned in order to cure her illness. But it didn’t turn out as they were hoping so they had to turn themselves into vampires too so that they can care for their mother. This book is about Beltran, Rafe’s twin, second to the youngest of the siblings.
Bel has always been fascinated by Science and music. But ever since the death of their mother a few months ago, he hasn’t played music again, yet. They have just moved into Connecticut, and he has decided to live a little out of town, surrounded by a lot of trees. His brothers and his father are used to him isolating himself for his researches and experiments. And he has been focusing on finding a cure for Vampirism.
Each of the brothers acquired a special gift when they became Vampires. Bel’s gift is the ability to communicate and understand animals. That is why surrounding his property, he has scattered food and in some areas where the animals can drink and have some rest. When he started to feel the presence of two wolves just outside his property, he recognized them as the same two wolves who were ordered by Brett MacPherson of the MacPherson Clan to attack Rafe, his twin, while they were helping Philippe Arsenault of the Arsenault Clan.
Wyatt and River were casted out by their own pack for being in a relationship together. With a lot of death threats, they were forced to align themselves with whoever could offer them protection from their own kind. They were forced to do the bidding of Brett MacPherson thus meeting Beltran Varik who ultimately killed Brett. Now, they are on the outskirts of Bel’s property hoping to get the chance to talk to him and offer themselves as his. They also seek protection from the threat of their own pack and other werewolves around the area.
Bel never thought that he will find his mate, let alone mates, in the werewolves, Wyatt and River. His kindness and desire to help and protect them morphed into so much more while he invited them to stay with him while they sort an arrangement that will assure the wolves’ safety from any form of danger. He felt deeply the pain of abandonment that the wolves felt from their own pack and family, and the threats to their lives by other packs upon learning about their relationship. And he has yet to tell his brothers and father about it all.
A story of pure love, respect, chances and family. I love the Varik family. They epitomize what a family should always be, no matter what. Bel’s love for his family, their (adoptive) father, and his mates are heart-wrenching in its purity and honesty. Once again Ms. Jocelynn Drake has brought to life these amazing characters who will make you fall in love with all of them!
