Duke Webb has run the most successful bail recovery agency in Atlanta for over 20 years. That’s because he has a team of trained, competent hunters backing him up to keep his name feared on the streets. But Duke knows that nothing can go on forever. That’s what leads him to start his new training program.
Kellam Knight has studied martial arts under his sensei, Quick, since he was 8 years old. A tossed-out reject from high-society, Kell has a problem fighting on the right side of the law. When Quick offers Kell the opportunity to join Duke’s training program, he’s all in. Except he’s not prepared for the straight, over-confident, extremely disciplined, sexy man Brian has recruited to be his partner.
Tyrell Jenkins’ world was flipped upside down when his father never returned home from his last deployment. He’d been Ty’s teacher, mentor, his guide to living a righteous life as a good man. When Brian King – his father’s most trusted comrade – finally comes to him with the truth, he doesn’t come alone. He comes with trained men hidden in the shadows…and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join a brotherhood unlike any other.
REVIEW:
Each of us has a quality that makes us unique, it can be a characteristic or a physical matter. It can be the truths that we believe in and follow in the way we do the things in our lives. It will differ us from other people. It makes us us. It makes us who we are!
This is book 5 in the series of Bounty Hunters, although it will focus on the new generation of bounty hunters, by Ms. A.E. Via, narrated by Mr. Aiden Snow. We have been following Duke’s Bail/Recovery business with tales of capturing fugitives and along the way finding their life partners. Duke, with his business partner Quick, is running the most successful bail bonds recovery business in Atlanta. Under him are some of the toughest and most respected Recovery Agents ever to grace the city of Atlanta and its criminal citizenry.
Tyrell Jenkins was raised to be a good man. He was raised in the Muslim faith and to be a respectful Muslim black man in America. But ever since his father left to fight his country’s war overseas, and never came back, he has lost that faith. Though he continues to be respectful and he continues to live according to what his father taught him. He knows that one day, his own Queen will come, just like his father’s falling in love with his mother.
Kellam Knight has been on his own since his father cast him out when he admitted he was gay at age 16. He thought his father would still accept him after coming out but the opposite happened. Ever since Quick saved him from being bullied, he has learned to toughen himself up through the kindness and tutelage of Quick in the art of Martial Arts. He has learned to defend himself, and he can’t help but save those who are undergoing the same fate as him. Whenever he sees people being bullied or undermined, he can’t stop himself from helping out. He learns and thinks of himself to be a righteous, responsible and respectful man.
When Ty and Kel were paired as the first to be trained by Duke and Quick under the new generation of bounty hunters and by the rest of the team, they had to navigate each other’s personality and learn how they can work peacefully and harmoniously together. Little did they know that this would lead to something more. Getting to know each other’s abilities and vulnerabilities has made them realize a few other things as well. Their attraction to each other stem from mutual respect for who they are and for each other’s past and present. Ty’s instinct to take care of Kel is inherent to what he has learned while growing up. Kel’s respect for what Ty believes in restored some of the faith he lost when he was cast out by his father. I love that this story had a different approach from the other books in the series. I love how these characters were created the way they are.
Mr. Aiden Snow delivers again. It never ceases to amaze me the amount of talent required to voice all these amazing characters and bring them to life. I am a very emotional reader, but when I hear the characters being voiced, it makes them become more real to me. Mr. Snow certainly accomplishes that every time he narrates Ms. A.E. Via’s amazing stories.
A story of faith, acceptance, believing in our own truth, righteousness, responsibility and being the best version of yourself you can be! Ms. Via was able to bring us into a world of pure love, pure acceptance and ultimate faith that someone loves us for who and what we are. Mr. Snow’s voices of all the characters in this series has been phenomenal. Simply amazing!
