Jax Altieri here. Sometimes I wonder what I should write about and many times I spend more of an afternoon staring at my screen in confusion. For this, I ended up reflecting on why I wrote my book, In the Line of Fire. As a veteran of the military, I know what it meant to serve in secret. For me it was worse as I wasn’t out to myself so in my instance, my denial made me come close to hating myself.
In time, I learned that you can’t go through life that way. With this book, I wanted to reflect that in the one of the characters who is a Marine that wants someone to love him and will do anything to protect that love. The other, a torment FBI agent who has come to hate himself by drinking constantly has come to find new life and love in a Marine.
I also wanted action. Explosions, gunfire, witty one-liners, and all that good stuff. I wanted more than the usual fluff. I asked myself, “How much trouble could a Marine and an FBI agent get into?” Well, a lot. Read the book and see how much trouble and love these boys can get into in such a short amount of time.
When I got to the bathroom window, the blinds were open, and I could see Andrew undressing. His back was to me, which made me glad and guilty at the same time. Even though I was trying to do my security checks, I played the part of voyeur. I stepped back a little from the light that came out of the window. Despite knowing I should walk away, I stared transfixed at his bare bottom.
I took in a deep breath at the sight and rushed away to finish my check. I needed to behave. Twenty minutes later, I wandered back into the house sweating like crazy while trying to towel myself off with my shirt. My skin glistened, and the hair on my chest and my navel were damp. I walked down the hall and ran into Andrew as he came out of the bathroom with just a towel around his waist.
He dropped the clothes he was carrying as we hit each other. He blushed as he looked me up and down, and I knelt to pick up his clothes, which made his blush even worse. Now I was almost on my knees in front of a muscular Marine wearing just a towel being held on by luck.

The book sounds like a great read.
I like the cop protecting the witness trope.
