My new neighbor is a total tool.
He hated me from the second he laid eyes on me, and I don’t have the first clue why… But, if he wants to hate me, I’m happy to give him a few reasons: mowing the lawn at dawn on the weekend, leaving garbage cans in front of his driveway, renting a petting zoo for my backyard…making a list of ways to drive him crazy is half the fun.
He deserves it with the way he’s driving me crazy right back without even trying— walking around without a shirt on, sweaty rippling muscles on full display, well-worn denim jeans perfectly molded to his…well, you get the idea.
My point is, if he wants a war, I’ll give him one.
***Nailed is an enemies to lovers, neighbors who can’t stand each other, omg the anger banging, drool worthy, low angst story, which happens to be the second in my Four Bears Construction series. It CAN be read as a stand alone. There are NO shifters in this series, only the OTHER kind of bears.
REVIEW:
Note: While this is the second in the series, it can be read as a standalone. However, there are spoilers for book 1 – which I heartily recommend reading/listening to 🙂
This story was hilarious and cute as heck! Stone has made it his mission to piss off his neighbor and he does a bang-up job 😛 From mowing the lawn at o’dark thirty on the weekends, to blowing non-existent leaves and grass, to using his yard for loud entertaining, he’s found a lot of ways to get under Dare’s skin. Stone doesn’t know why Dare has a serious issue with him as he seemed pissed off before they’d ever spoken a word.
Dare’s pretty content with his life. He’s got his bike shop where he repairs and rebuilds motorcycles. He’s got his house and he’s got his dog Rudy. But Rudy seems to take a liking to Stone – in fact he seems to spend as much time at Stone’s. Which also pisses Dare off 🙂 For his part Stone loves it when Rudy comes over and he’s wondering why Dare doesn’t keep him inside better if he doesn’t want him wandering to the neighbors.
When Stone finds out why Dare had taken a sudden dislike to him, he’s gobsmacked. And that leaves to some serious angry sex. That is the best either of them have ever had. They aren’t friends per se, but it’s safe to say they’ve reached an understanding. Stone is a big ole goof softy though, so he’s hellbent on getting Dare to lighten up and change his patterns. Stone has a great group of friends in the co-owners of his business so he’s happy to bring Dare into the fold.
As the summer rolls on, things change. Dare’s family has not been accepting of him, but his nephew ends up coming to stay with him after his family has kicked him out after coming out. This is another part of the misunderstanding that is pretty funny 🙂 But his nephew West fits right in and when Stone offers him an apprenticeship, Dare is even more impressed. And West is also encouraging of the relationship growing between Dare and Stone 😉 They are perfect for each other and everyone sees it before they do of course 😀
This was cute as heck! Stone has made it his mission in life to piss off his neighbor and he does a bang-up job 😛 Dare is a grumpy curmudgeon and Stone is the perfect goofy, good natured, funny, sweet antidote for him. When they get together it’s smoking hot! There are some tense moments, but nothing too angsty. I absolutely loved everything about this story. This is one of my favorite series this year and I can’t wait for the next one. The narrators once again do a fantastic job with all the voices – thoroughly enjoyable listening experience. Bravo and well done! Highly recommended.
