Clean Up On Aisle Mine by Patricia Logan
A Spy Like Me, Book 1
Former CIA operative, Damon Thorne, is a fixer. He cleans up messes other people make of their lives to forget the wreckage his own has become. Whether it means retrieving a drug addict whose family is being blackmailed or rescuing a furball who’s the subject of a custody dispute, Damon just gets things done.
When the job means kidnapping the wild son of a prominent Senator in an election year, it should come with hazard pay.
From the day Jude Chenoweth was born into wealth and position, his father has groomed him to follow in his footsteps. Jude has other plans. Openly gay and infamous, all he wants to do is live his life, create his art, and never settle down.
Life has a way of kicking butts, even the sexy ones. Thrown together in a situation neither wanted, Damon and Jude must now decide how to move forward. Jude knows something is wrong when he gazes into Damon’s haunted brown eyes and Damon recognizes there’s much more to Jude than the caricature he shows the world.
This might be the beginning of a journey… or an incredibly stupid mistake. Perhaps working together will help them process their own demons. Whatever happens, neither of them believes Damon’s assignments will always come with a heaping helping of bad guys.
Not always… right?

Jude parked the Roadster in the lot at Marty’s just after nine o’clock that night. His meeting with Sam Greenberg had gone exceptionally well. He’d given his pitch for the design of Ellen’s new set and left Warner Bros. about a half hour afterward, headed to the bank, and then off to meet his mother for lunch. Hopefully, he’d get hired. If not, there was always the graphics business he loved so much. He got out of the car and hit the keyless remote to lock it. As he turned, he spotted a handsome man standing close. The man was taller than Jude, maybe six foot three or four and intensely focused on him. The fact that Jude hadn’t seen him when he drove into the parking lot and hadn’t seen him walk up was slightly unnerving. It was like he simply materialized out of the shadows. He wore mirrored sunglasses that hid any and all emotions. It was strangely like looking at the Terminator and it freaked Jude out more than a little bit. “Hi,” Jude said, hesitantly. When the man didn’t reply, Jude felt unease bloom in his belly. Maybe the guy was another reporter but he sure as hell didn’t look like one. He was staring at him with focused intensity which looked odd on a gorgeous face. He wished he’d remove the glasses so he could look into the man’s eyes. The man had a strong jawline with just a touch of black beard running under it and over his chin. His cheeks were otherwise clean-shaven and he had short hair that was black as pitch. He wore it slicked back and the sides of his head were shaved. Jude tried to imagine what the guy would look like when that hair fell over his forehead, picturing the man braced over him in bed as he pumped into him. Jude shook away the sudden sexual thoughts, inwardly kicking himself for letting his imagination run wild. “I need to talk to you,” the man said. His voice was deep and almost guttural, sending a shiver down Jude’s spine, straight to his balls. Damn. “I’m not giving another interview,” Jude said, sidestepping and attempting to move away from the guy. The man sidestepped, moving to block his path to the side alleyway that led to the front of the club. Jude realized almost too late that the man was massive. His shoulders were as wide as the side of a barn and the black leather jacket he wore only barely concealed huge biceps. “I ain’t here to interview you, Chenoweth,” the man said, lifting one hand and pushing aside his jacket to reveal a shoulder holster underneath. In it was a gun. The fucking guy was armed!
