The beast doesn’t ever really get a fairytale ending…does he?
Deven’s mission is clear. All he has to do is convince the dragon to give up one of his magical scales. Lies, deception, seduction—nothing is off-limits. It should be easy. But it isn’t. Especially not when said dragon is so alluring in human form. It’s not long before Deven starts to want something way more valuable than a scale from his beautiful beast. But how do you convince a dragon to give you his heart when your entire relationship was built on deceit?
Fiora is cursed. Love can kill him. Literally kill him. So keeping his mind (and hands) off the devilishly handsome Deven shouldn’t be a challenge. But it is. Deven’s entirely too warm, too attractive, too…everything to resist. And spending time with the lovable human makes Fiora question what’s more frightening—the curse, or the possibility of a life without Deven by his side.
If they want a shot at happily ever after, Deven and Fiora will need to break the potentially deadly curse and overcome all the secrets that stand between them. Easy, right?
They wish…
This book is an explicit M/M romance with an absurd cloak worn during the summer, a dragon who hoards—well, it isn’t gold, and some extremely angry parents who can breathe fire.
REVIEW:
If you want a romantic sweet book that has everything you want, that includes a dragon, a curse and a catch that makes it better, then look no further. It also has overbearing parents, lying council people and a man who can’t quite figure out what is so wrong with him that he can’t be trusted.
Deven knows he gets around a lot. He can’t help he loves sex. And those who want to come with him to enjoy a bout or two, he’s not going to complain. But because of it, the council is complaining and has come up with something devious to get rid of Deven and get what they want as well. But when Deven gets there, everything he does seems to fall under suspicion from Lord Fiora’s steward, Andrei. And Deven can’t figure out why. When he keeps asking what he’s done wrong, he basically gets a grunt and then Andrei gets rude with him again. But somehow Deven gets Fiora on his own to let him live life just a little. They really seem to be hitting it off as friends and possibly more. And more comes pretty quick, with the chemistry that’s flashing between them. And even knowing that sleeping with Deven is going to be a VERY bad idea, Fiora can’t hold off anymore. He wants one night of pleasure with someone who really seems to enjoy him and his company. But the cost is too high and Deven is turned away. When he finds out the truth, he rushes back to Fiora to make things right and is almost too late. Can Deven save Fiora in time or will stubbornness from his steward and parents make it too late?
Reading this book makes me again wish I could reach in the book and slap some people. I don’t know who I was more mad at in this book. The council for being so devious, or Andrei for being such a butt. I get why Andrei was being cautious. He knew something was up and was just trying to protect Fiora. So I get that. But instead of really finding out what was going on, he and the cronies of the mansion just assumed Deven was bad based on his rep. And most of that was hate fueled by the council anyway. And then we have the council, who was manipulative to begin with. Using a child to gain what they wanted. It was despicable and I was so angry for Fiora and Deven both. And because of Andrei being such a (insert not nice word), Deven had no idea of Fiora’s curse and could have lost Fiora before they even really gotten started. But I love Deven. I love his love for life and always trying to find the beauty and happy of it all. And he was trying to hard to show Fiora the same, because all he saw in the man’s eyes was sadness. All he had wanted all along was someone to not see him as a freak and to love him for him. And he had finally found it. And thanks to others, almost lost it.
But they persevered. And they didn’t back down when it mattered. And for that, they had the opportunity of a lifetime. Because Deven showed Fiora what kind of man he really was when he came back. And for that, Fiora would fight all the fires he needed to.
