REVIEW:
Note: While this is the second book in this series, it can be read as a standalone. There are spoilers for the first book however 😉
Darren Gage has to be the Gage Scholar – it’s tradition. Any Gage going to Harrison has always been the Gage Scholar. He also needs it badly to work things out with his dad. But Isaiah Nettles also wants this scholarship. He needs it. He’s doing everything to help his mom, but it’s not enough. He’s on scholarship, but he still needs this. Once he gets to know Darren and understand why it’s so important to him, he’s not so sure. Darren wants it but he doesn’t want to hurt Isaiah. No more plot! You’ll have to read it – but it’s cute and sexy and a little angsty and sweet! Just roll with the surprises 🙂
Oh my! I really really liked his story 🙂 So much more than the first book. I so enjoyed the slow burn and the push/pull of this story. Neither of the MCs is who they “appear” to be. Isaiah’s reactions to Darren and his privilege were completely realistic. I liked how he would react emotionally and then realize that he was not seeing/interacting with Darren, but with his “type” meaning entitled rich dude. Darren for his part has been dealing with a lot and after coming out, he’s decided that the only for him is to do the right thing – no matter what it might cost him in relation to his family and his legacy. He’s SUCH a good guy in this story. His sharing of his talents and desires and all the hard work he’s done with Isaiah is so refreshing. He’s truly found somebody who sees him – the real him. Though it takes some time and a bit of prodding, Isaiah is able to get Darren to open up to him and Isaiah reciprocates (also with some prodding) and together the make a formidable team. Other great things about this story? The mothers! Both Isaiah’s and Darren’s mothers have their backs. And they too make a formidable team 🙂 Darren’s grandparents! How completely adorable. I hope in the next book we might get to know how Darren’s grandfather’s investigation turns out – so that the villain of this piece gets his comeuppance! The dance these two do around each other is adorable. They definitely have their obstacles, but they get around to focusing on the right things pretty quickly. I loved their shared love of music and the way they just adored each other. Bravo! Highly recommended. Can’t wait for book three!

I hope it’s okay to comment, but I wanted to say thank you for reading and I’m thrilled you liked it.
FWIW – you are not the first person to want to know about the investigation. I can see I have a couple of weeks to put together something to share with readers about that – good thing for me I have something in the works I planned to share on in my group that should answer that question. (I think you have a good idea what’s gonna happen – just not how lol)
Thank you again.
