Romeo Bradly and Julius Shepherd moved to Blissville for the same reason: a fresh start. Romeo was looking for a school district where he could make a real impact in the lives of students and faculty, and Julius was eager to teach one of his passions to the best and brightest. But the sleepy little town offered them much more than they’d bargained for – quirky people, unlikely friendships, and an all-consuming attraction that turns them inside out.
When unexpected circumstances threaten to cancel the school play, Romeo’s theater background and Julius’s musical expertise make them the perfect pair to save the day. Working together so closely makes it harder for the men to ignore their growing feelings. After all, the heart knows what it wants and doesn’t care about age gaps, race, or professional conflict of interest. Romeo and Julius will learn that they have far more in common than they realize, and their differences will make them stronger.
Their commitment to each other and the play will be tested when outside forces target them as a couple and exert pressure to cancel the production. Romeo and Julius vow to prove that their love can conquer any challenge.
REVIEW:
Note: while this is technically the sixth book in this series, it can definitely be read as a standalone – although it does contain some spoilers for other series books. That will not detract from enjoying this story 🙂
Romeo Bradley has moved to Blissville to take on the role of school Superintendent. He’s trying to move on with his life. As the story unfolds, we discover why Romeo needs to move on and why this is a fresh start for him. He’s experienced sadness and loss and he’s excited about his new role.
Julius Shepard is excited to take the position in Blissville teaching High School science. However, he does have other talents as well. What he isn’t sure about is whether pursuing the chemistry he obviously has with Romeo is a good idea. But Romeo is persistent.
When there is an issue with the teacher who was supposed to lead the high school play, Romeo and Julius are called upon to save the day. This is a student written play and they will be so disappointed if the show can’t go on. With Romeo directing and Julius assisting with the music, it seems like the production is rescued. But just as things are going really well and Rome and Jules are growing closer, there is a threat from a group who wants to stop the play from being performed based on “morals” or some such nonsense. Thankfully there is a lot of support from all quarters, and the show must go on!
What another lovely story in this series! Rome and Jules are delightful characters. Rome has suffered heartache, but may be ready to love again. Jules saw what losing his father did to his mother, so he’s not sure he ever wants to risk that hurt for himself. Luckily Rome is not one to resist a challenge. There are fabulous supporting characters – including both Rome’s and Jules’ families. Romeo has some pretty hilarious family members – including his great aunt Astrid 😀 Jules’ mother and brother are right behind him all the way. As usual we get glimpses of past couples from this series which is so nice. It’s just a lovely story of two men who overcome some obstacles to get their HEA. It’s a low angst, feel-good, story. as usual Joel Leslie is fabulous preforming all these characters! Recommended and on to #7!
