BLURB:
After taking early retirement from the police force, Liam is happy avoiding people and tending to his roses. Or he was, until Felix moves in next door.
Felix is taking a break from his acting career, even though he’s on the cusp of stardom. With his cheeky, persistent, and very naughty behaviour, he gets under Liam’s skin instantly.
Felix needs someone who can set him boundaries—a man who can handle him firmly, but with love. Liam doesn’t think he needs anyone, until Felix brings much needed sunshine into his life.
Will Felix choose stability and love, or a life of glitz and glamour?
A Boy Made of Sunshine is a light hearted gay romance with a grumpy ex-detective, a brash new neighbour, a cute Dalmatian puppy, and lots of brattish behaviour.
REVIEW:
I will admit that I struggled to get through this book at times. Felix is cute and Liam is a secret softy and I liked both men very much. Other than Rick, Felix’s good friend, they are the only characters that matter in this story. I really wanted to know them better and adore them.
The problem is, this whole book is one big long sex scene. After the first chapter or so, they are either having sex or talking about sex and don’t get me wrong, I love me some heat in my romance stories. But I wanted more than that.
We don’t really get to know them as people. Felix is a little more well rounded, but we never really get to know anything about Liam, besides he’s a disenchanted former policeman and a Dom.
I will give this author credit for being able to write smokin hot sex. Definitely 5 outta 5 chili peppers and if you’re a member of the “the more sex the better” club, you will love this!
But I like a little more story with my sex and this story had the potential to be really great. The premise was good and I think the author has some really great potential as a writer. The dialogue is smart and quite funny when appropriate. The author paints a lovely picture of the physical world the characters live in and I can totally picture Liam’s beautiful garden in my head.
So, 3 out of 5 because I like the characters and the story that’s there is really good. There just needs to be more of it!
